    My motivitation currently is:

    1) To be able to buy another horse. Mine is niow retired and I really miss riding.

    2) To be able to sell our house and buy a 4 bedroomed one so I can have another baby!

    3) Our debt free date is currently 2012 when my children will be 7 and 9 - ideal time to go to DisneyLand Florida!

There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.
  • When I split from my ex I fell into a very bad depression, started depending on alcohol and spending my money on things I didn't need to try to cheer me up. Well, That was two years ago and I still feel the knock on effects of that time. I'm in arrears with my rent, council tax, gas, electric, I owe money to the inland revenue and also to my mum who financialy bailed me out a number of times.

I want to get rid of all the arrears because they still feel somehow like ties to the ex, I want to be able to save to afford new furniture to replace what he and I had together (again, a moving on thing). I want to start a savings account for my sister for her to cash in when she's 21 and a savings account for my mum, to do with as she pleases because god knows, that woman deserves it.
Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:
This time I'm on top of it! We live and learn :coffee:

I want to support my family, tackle our debts, and then our mortgage so that I can retire at 55 - 8 years off.

Already had the lifesaving surgery and should have reduced working then, but OH was going through a hard time so I have driven myself harder at work to become the main earner.

Three years on, on the face of it I have succeeded in that but behind the mask I am worn out.
  • I want a baby/family and I don't want to have to go to work and work the hours I do now, over 50 hours a week. I want the option of working part time at least so if I ever do get to have children I will be able to spend time with them.

We have just under a year till we get married and I'm aiming to pay off as much as possible and to hapefully have just one debt by the time we start trying for our family.
  • I want to be able to buy a bigger house so that ds1 and ds2 don't have to share a room, and so that dd can have a room bigger than a tiny box!

I would also like a house with a proper garden as we only have a yard with a few pots, and I would love to do proper gardening and have a lawn.

I also want to relieve the pressure of having to work so hard in order to meet the bills.

Once we are debt free it will free up £600 a month, so even with a bigger mortgage we would have more disposable income for holidays, clothes, etc.

I would also like to help the children financially if they need it when they are older, and give them a good start in life.

Proud to have dealt with with my debts
Debt free from 18th March 2013, long may it continue!
  • I have a few motivations...

1> Being in debt is just rubbish. I know I'm capable of the black and it is entirely my own laziness and bad decisions that has got me in the red. It is a sort of negative motivation.

    2> Surfing.
When in debt I can't afford to head to the coast. Now the summer is over the waves start getting good (summer is kinda rubbish for surfing - pop goes a popular myth that even a lot of surfers believe :p) so I need money in the bank for that.

3> I want a van to kit out as a sort of camper for travel for surf trips, snowboarding trips and the likes - this is as opposed to a car so not entirely extravagant.

4> I want to sail around the world living on a sailboat! Haha. That's like the ultimate dream for me right now - I can't even begin to imagine how far off that is, but once I'm into the black I'll budget it and start saving especially for it.

I'm going to have to live on a shoestring budget to be able to afford most of this and pile just about every available (disposable) penny into high interest accounts and the likes with practically no leisure time and probably no holidays so I can make it happen.

Big dreams - but there's nothing wrong with aiming high is there? :D

I'll post a picture of my boat on here in years to come if/when I ever make it to dream #4.
Everything looks better from the seat of a bicycle.

I want to start up my charitable contributions again. I hate that they had to go.

I would love to be able to help my kids and my parents more than I do currently. (I think it's important to set a better fiscal example to my children as well.)

But mainly, I just don't want anybody else to have control over my life.

I don't want to be in thrall to banks and CC companies.

I want to be financially clued up and switched on, and be able to pick and chose my financial products wisely - not be forced into a beggars can't be choosers position because I've got bad credit. :o

That's all. (S'not much to ask is it????) :j

  • I would like to help my parents too jacks, as they have helped me financially in the past. I know my mum would love a holiday home in France and I would love to buy her one (or even pay for her to have a holiday in France!)

And I agree with wanting to have control over my life and not having banks dictate to me what I do!
