Virgin media

Options
Virgin have sent me direct marketing and called me direct to confirm that for the 1st time they can offer me TV, phone and broadband. When I called to book they said it was not available at my house. I asked why they had contacted me direct and they said 'don't know' I complained and got fobbed off. Are they breaking marketing laws by offering me services that they cannot/will not provide?

Was the marketing actually addressed to you then? All I've ever got from Virgin has been generic flyers even though I can't get their services (part of my road can though so I suppose that's the reason for the flyer drop).

How did they get your phone number? Had you contacted them in the past to give them your details?
  • Not sure how they got phone number. Never dealt with them before. The 1st mail was to the householder but with my house number and street on it, so not a generic flyer. The next was actually addressed by name.

House number, Street and Postcode are quite easy things to find though. You can normally find a postcode on Royal Mails website.

Virgin should spend less on marketing and more on actually connecting it's service to buildings.

They exist to make money so I'm sure if that was a profitable way forward then they would do it. They are obviously looking at places where they haven't got a network, and deciding that the interest isn't there to make it worth their while expanding.
