" Before he took delivery of the car he noticed on the mot sheet it had a blowing exhaust which was not in the description of the car. He also noticed a vibration coming through the clutch pedal which apparently is down to a warped flywheel."
Which begs the question why did he take delivery of it? We can all be wise after the fact but if he was clever enough to notice this before he got the car he should have insisted they were done before he bought it. I think you are going to have a struggle here. If it is an independent warranty company they will say fair wear and tear and they won't pay out on pre-existing faults.0 -

I can see the value in that, can't beat some hands on learning, plenty of instruction videos available.0 -

It doesn't cover Northern Ireland's MOT system. The tax checker does work for NI.Google it, it's not rocket science...
Zero help.
Anyway, checking the previous MOT in this case seems to mean have a look at the actual report, to see what work needed done or whether there were any advisories.
An 11 yr old, 93,000 mile car needing a clutch change is going to be pure wear and tear surely.0 -

When I was looking at cars I used the MOT Checker to find out when the car was last taxed or if it was still taxed to give me an idea how long that car had been in stock for.
Two cars out of the ones I checked gave no info whatsoever when out into the database.
They were both 64 plate Corsas, I assumed they were probably from the Channels Islands and reregistered for sale in the UK.
The price of the road tax and higher fuel consumption was the biggest dealer breaker for me. Though I would probably have preferred a Corsa (all were 5 door)
Every database will have errors.
But I have successfully checked the cars I Learned to drive in, the A Reg Renault 14 was last taxed in 1993, and the 305 on an X was last taxed in 1992.0
