used car

My son recently purchased a used VW golf from a dealer in Fallowfield, Manchester. Before he took delivery of the car he noticed on the mot sheet it had a blowing exhaust which was not in the description of the car. He also noticed a vibration coming through the clutch pedal which apparently is down to a warped flywheel. The car is going back tomorrow for the dealer to take a look at it. Under the terms of the warranty he will be charged for any investigatory work undertaken. The finance company seem happy to take any money off him but don't seem happy enough to offer any help. Although he has mentioned to the finance company that the car is not as described he is constantly told that he has to take into account the mileage and age of the car. The car is an 11 year old VW golf with 93000 miles on it. Can anyone offer any help?

i cant really see a warranty covering a fair wear tear item like a exhaust or a clutch, as hes noted the exhaust fault before hes purchased the car then that would say to me he accepted its condition before purchase, as for car not as described, and the finance company, how exactly was car described ? as new ? or a eleven years old golf ? buyers remorse ?
