    Looks a good fit.

I will admit to be a brand snob when it comes to ICE to an extent.

But if it works for you and does what you need at a fair price then you have had a result.

I shall be considering a double din in the Picanto, as I want to fit a reversing camera if possible.

It's actually pretty good and the satnav is Sygic which is better than alot of stand alone Sat Nav's ive seen, plus its easy to update and add custom locations etc.

I had to have one that fitted nicely the Double Din with an facia plate looks awful in my opinion and really tacky.

Aren't you always just about to sell the car? In which case, will you be able to take the double-DIN with you? Have you checked how map updates work on it?

Why do you ask? I thought it was just the case of putting a pair of prongs in and taking it out. Are some double dins non removable?

I thought the point of having an Android head unit is you could use it alongside an Android phone so if you have Nav on your phone you then have Nav on your Android head unit?

    Sort of screen mirroring?

No - you're thinking of Android Auto - a similar idea to Apple CarPlay - integrating an Android or iOS device into the car better, so, for example, you can see the phone's sat nav on the car's screen.

What we're talking about is a standalone Android device - a car stereo with Android installed on it. You don't need to connect your phone, you install the apps on the stereo itself!

Point being, I think, can you guarantee that your next car will be 2DIN?

Well the £295 Pioneer I linked to above did indeed have mirroring.

Surely if a head unit has Android software then you can download Apps to it?

Otherwise what is the point? So you can download Google Maps or Waze?

I would just spend the extra and get the one with mirroring as standard.

It'll be removable, but will it fit in your new car? A lot of cars use custom units now for security.

As for how it works, I asked because I have no idea. It's unlikely to have it's own data connection, so I don't know if you can load apps in the same way you do from a phone.

Yes, it has Apple Carplay (explained above), Android Auto (explained above) and MirrorLink - which is more of a pure screen mirroring as you describe.

This is NOT what LondonTiger was talking about. You CAN'T install apps on that Pioneer. He's talking about a stereo that runs the Android operating system - the full one, with access to the Play Store and everything. The Pioneer doesn't. I'm not saying what's better or worse, just explaining the difference. Android Auto IS NOT Android!
