How long will Cameron stay at No.10

I think Cameron is going to weather this storm. Of course it helps that he appears to have done absolutely nothing wrong. I like the way he's started talking about the whole affair in the past tense.
Corbyn's act of grandfatherly reason saying there might be other questions to answer will need to be dropped soon. He's made some political capital and is in danger of over-egging it.0 -
Rich, privileged people like Cameron don`t know the difference between Aston Villa or West Ham but they`re great at keeping more of their own money away from the taxman than the rest of us.
Wealth distribution was evened out a great deal from the 1940's to the 1980's by legislation. Since then all governments have ensured that obscene differences in wealth have returned to pre 1930 levels..._0 -
Gone within three months.Rumours are that amongst the plethora of millionaires in the cabinet there a few who are not too happy with Cameron`s handling of this and the increased scrutiny on their own financial affairs that's coming.
Perhaps Ken Clarke`s warning last year to Tories that an 'unelectable' Labour Party under Corbyn/McDonnell might just capture the public mood and cook up a surprise come 2020 has a chance of being realised.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Dream on. You could put the Yorkshire Ripper at the head of the Tory party and they'd still thrash Labour in 2020.
The timing of this is actually very good for the Tories because it tends to keep Corbyn in post. Four years till the next election is a long time for the stupid old fool to survive without some major help from the Tories.
What were the news headlines unfavourable to the government of 2011, and how did they affect the election result of 2015? QED.0 -
Astounding how someone who apparently used to work in PR handled this so comically badly. Surely neither Cameron nor his advisors could hope that this story would quietly die?
The British attitude to wealth is fascinating. The horseracing world lost a legend in the past couple of years; Sir Henry Cecil who was a proper old school blue-blooded toff. Aristocratic family, privately educated, foppishly attired etc and yet reading his obituraries and messages on various forums, there was not a bad word said about him. He would apparently chat cheerfully to anyone about his nags, was unapologetically posh but accepted for that because he wasn't pretending to be anything else. I wonder if Cameron could have handled his inherent poshness better from the start? They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

Karma is, as the saying goes, a !!!!!.
You are wrong.
The rest of us don't have to pay IHT as the transaction his mother did is a perfectly normal and legal transaction and common sense thing to do. Your parents could do it as could any others. I have recommended it many times under advice.
There is no law broken. No pushing of HMRC rules to the limit. This is no different to you using an ISA or Pension to avoid paying tax.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Gone within three months.Cameron`s response is going to be a "robust" one in the Commons this afternoon apparently. I wouldn't bet against him turning on the wholly contrived 'waterworks' again. The Blue-rinsers love that.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0

Safe until a new leader elected in time for next election.Poor Corbyn. I watched the debate today and little Corbyn had nothing. It seems that all Labour have is some shouty indignation, and the Beast of Bolsover desperate to get some airtime by calling Cameron "Dodgy Dave".
Saying that a Global Equity unit trust is elitist is ridiculous. I checked Virgin Money's website, and you can invest in such a thing from £1.
Regarding the mother's gift, it was her choice to do so and that money is still taxable. It only becomes non-taxable should she live for 7 years.
On the Daily Politics today, the female Labour MP was saying that it was unpatriotic to invest in Global Equities as money was leaving the Country, and her poor dead mother would never have done that.
So does that mean she would re-introduce exchange controls, and forbid foreign holidays? It's that mad kind of hysteria that will keep Labour out of power, if they continue in that vein. I was disappointed that Andrew Neil didn't ask her about that (although I shouldn't have been since he lives and pays tax in France, so presumably his salary is leaving the Country).
This whole episode has been kept alive by the media: despite various tax advisors and other experts saying over the last few days that there was nothing to see. It's interesting that in fact, Cameron has overpaid tax, and closed down the tax advantages that traditionally the PM (and Speaker?) have enjoyed.
Labour had nothing: just one old man being angry and another stalking out in an orchestrated attempt to make some alliteration stick.0 -

Whilst this was interesting to read, I don't think you can compare Sir Henry Cecil with someone who has had to implement harsh policies for some people, and who has an official opposition whose job is to try to prise some fault from him.0 -
Safe until a new leader elected in time for next election. This whole tax thing is a total non story. He hasnt broken the law, simples.
Who wouldnt avoid tax if they could? why i took some steps this very day to avoid some tax perfectly legally.
Anyway, at what point did any of us agree to pay any tax?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
