solicitor problems

I dont know if I am posting in the right section so please move if not ..
2 years ago my wife left and we subsequently divorced ..Our agreement was that she wanted her share of the property transferred into our 2 children s names..I therefore employed a solicitor to do the dirty work ..shortly after passing all the information to the company , the agreed solicitor left , she had already given me a verbal estimate of charges for the service ( she was a family member of a work colleague) ..I decided to leave the case with the company and the replacement solicitor ..Since then I have paid much more than the indicated cost and been told as it is extremely complicate and has to be incorporated into the clean break agreement as the judge may question the agreement and decision between ourselves ..However I get told out of the blue that the 2nd solicitor who has been dealing with my case was leaving and has since left I was asked to meet her again to get things clear of what was happening before she left , more charges.. since then I have heard nothing despite a phone call in which I was told I would hear within a week that was 3 weeks ago ..I heard nothing ..I sent a email last week but had no reply , so I phoned again the secretary said 'oh haven't you heard' I am sorry but the new solicitor is only part time I will tell them again '..I have so far paid them £1200 and so far have only had draught letters and a lot of charges for emails telephone calls and letters etc The last I heard was that the final letters had been draughted and needed to be be sent to my ex wife and then to the court ...my ex is now starting to think i am trying to fob her off as it has been over a year ...so what can I do with this solicitor every time I e mail or phone , or they email or phone me I get charged it seems that I am being milked ..if I pull out I will lose my money and I cant afford to start again ..and they probably know that
many thanks for any advise

This will be totally pointless unless your wife has her own solicitor- in which case let her deal with it

Sorry OP don't have any advice but just wanted to say when I got divorced my ex did not have a solicitor. He did go to see one for half an hour free advice and then decided he didn't want to pay for separate advice as we had already agreed the terms of the consent order.
I appointed a solicitor who drew up the agreement and it was about £1500 in the end. My ex did have to write a letter for the court to say he had taken legal advice and agreed the content of the consent order and he paid half the solicitor costs.

Not sure if things have changed now Guest101 ?

My ex wife has no solicitor she can't afford 1..I have got several Letters from her signed and saying this is what she wants...however I am desperate to do this as her new partner has indicated that he wants proceeds from the property....once this is done he can have no influence...
