You can get Megabus from Leeds city centre to Hull Interchange and back again to Leeds.
The Hull Interchange is next door to the Infirmary, about £10 in total for both journeys, also the train However trains are very expensive and the tickets very restrictive and confusing.
walk on Train fare is not far of £100 both ways in peak times and £42 off peak.
I do Contracts, all day every day.

I don't know where you're getting those prices from, the off peak day return is £21.30.
  • National Rail enquiries is a brilliant well run website. All the info ,times, prices in seconds.Stick to National Rail enquiries tho not the other ticket sellers. There are a lot of advance tickets at reduced prices.

Quite - the Off-peak Day Return fare is valid on this route from the 09.38am train onwards, and in this case the slightly more expensive Off-peak (month) Return fare at £23.30 is actually valid on all trains throughout the day, i.e. including the peak time trains in the morning.

Google maps might make it look that way but it's actually a good 5-10 minute walk to HRI from the Interchange. Perfectly do-able for most, but some might prefer to take a bus (frequent and cheap) or a taxi for around £3.

Hopefully, your daughter is on the road to recovery now. Best wishes.

NRE doesn't sell tickets, so where do you suggest tickets are purchased?

In my last year of uni I commuted from Hull to Leeds. As already said the train takes an hour and a return should cost you less than £30 even if bought on the day. Then, it literally is a 10- 15 min walk from the station. You can't miss the hospital as it is so ugly.

I know that you know more than me about railway policy and tickets but after you select a ticket on the NRE site it offers a dropdown list of train operating companies, as well as a couple of 3rd party sites. Click on your preferred company and it will link you to the site you choose and you can purchase from there, without any additional fees.
