Printer with cheapest cartridges suggestions plse?

Does anyone have any recommendations please on the best brand of printer for cheapest ink cartridges please?

My HP all-in-one has annoyingly died, after showing an ink system failure error code. It was an absolute nightmare to try and uninstall, and in the end I had to download a program to uninstall it, so I don't want to go for another HP.

It was also very expensive to replace the cartridges and of course while a new printer will be under guarantee, I won't be able to use compatible cartridges.

Any suggestions please? I have Windows 10 so it must work with that.

Epson and Canon are the ones that have a broader range of compatibles .
My preference would be for single ink tanks as it easier to swap one .

if you don't use the printer very often, then I would suggest looking at a colour laser printer, the cartridges never dry out.

Espon but their build quality sucks these days./ My RX620 is still going strong where my mums much newer 4400 printer died after 3 years.

Or HP, you say the inks expensive, bought from Argos when they were discounted and a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
3 sealed box sets of colour and black came to less than the cost of 2 sets.

Quite cheap and told her not to bother buying cheap inks for it.

Thank you, I will only really be using the printer for printing vouchers to be honest and scanning. My HP wouldn't scan if the ink had run out, I don't know if all printers are like this. I don't know anything about laser printers, are there any drawbacks?

Yes I've read some bad reviews for Epson, which is a shame as that would have been the one I thought I would end up getting. I wouldn't go for a HP one after the problems with the one I had, it's put me right off them.

I've had HP, Epson and Canon and went back to HP for our current printer. Epson might have cheap ink, but you use much of it up cleaning the print head in my experience. If the print head gets too clogged up then you have to dump the printer as it isn't worth getting it repaired.

At least Canon have replaceable print heads although they're expensive. Our Canon printer is now limited to black and white printing after using a faulty genuine Canon cartridge which clogged up the colour print head.

With HP, when you replace the cartridge you are also replacing the whole print head. Now that it has been around for a while, most cartridges (including the HP branded ones) seem to be recycled anyway.

Why not? A few sets of compatible cartridges can easily save you more than the cost of a printer.

I wouldn't waste money on maintaining a warranty that you probably won't need. You have statutory rights anyway, and can buy compatible ink that is guaranteed not to damage your printer.

Can you imagine the outcry if a car manufacturer said that their warranty would be invalidated unless you buy their own brand of petrol at £15.00 a litre?

I have a Brother wireless DCP 340CW - It's a few years old now and I never have bought original cartridges for it, or compatibles for that matter. Instead, when I bought it I set myself up with 4 bottles of ink that were supposed to be compatible with it, yet the bottles were actually marked "Epson". When one of the cartridges runs low I simply remove it and use a syringe that came with my first kit to refill it with the relevant colour. I remember that I needed to drill a small hole in the top of the cartridge on the first occasion and some rubber bungs were provided with the syringe, but a bit of blu-tak or sellotape would do the job equally as well. It's been just fine on that diet and I don't think I've spent in total more than a tenner on ink for it since I bought it. And there's still plenty of the second batch of ink left.

Whenever I need to ditch it, whatever replaces it will have to be refillable in the same way as this one is.
