I've seen bumps in various places but there's no explanation in the A - Z, or not under B in any case. Please could someone put me out of my misery?

Anyone can "bump" a post ... all you do is reply to it LOL (some others put "bumping it up for info" as a reply if they know another has asked the same/similar and the post would prove useful/interesting)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Anybody can 'bump' a thread if they feel that an older thread is still relevant and deserves to be pushed back on to the front page.
(Some posters do find it annoying though!) Probably best to explain why you're bumping the thread to avoid any unnecessary hassle.

As an aside I would have thought it was better looked on to "bump" or "reply to" an older thread than to start off a duplicate new one - as I kept doing just recently ...

If you feel that a previous thread would prove useful to another question, then you should provide a link to it.
