Ok, thanks. Will avoid. Can't be doing with the hassle.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

    No problem for me.
I applied online in January this year, got the card within 2 weeks with no requirement for paper based ID.

"Wish I'd read this thread before applying! They've actually got even worse in their ID requirements and doctors are no longer on the list. My local bank wouldn't do it and I'm not willing to pay for the PO service. I think it's particularly annoying that they don't provide a decision before asking for all this.

Edit - applied elsewhere - instant approval, decent credit limit and £20 cashback from Quidco, result!

Had either of you had ever had an AA card in the past?

I was accepted for one a few months ago with no id requests but I had had either a bank account or credit card with them in the past (I can't remember which).

I also had no problem doing a balance transfer to the card.

I was declined last year by them, but accepted straight off this time. I don't believe I've ever had a card from BOI in the past (can't be 100% sure, as I've had more than a few over the years!).

All my stability factors are good though...time at address, job, bank.

Yes, I was declined outright by the Post Office who are also BoI last year but accepted by the AA this year.

Yes, I have also been at the same address, job and bank for over 15 years.
  • I've just applied for this card and it was aprroved in a week. There was no confirmation until I called them. Was first sent a PIN, the next day Direct Debit instrustions, a couple of days later was sent the card itself. The biggest problem with them was I was only given a limit of.... £1000 :(
I have a perfect credit score!! My guess is they know they aren't gonna get any money out of me. You can only transfer the limit, minus £200. I just have to make do with this card, but will ditch it after it's run it course and see what else is on offer.

I got a £4k limit, but the most annoying thing about the card is that the minimum payment is 2.5% which is much higher than the normal 1%.
  • That is annoying, at least you got a 4k limit. I'd love to know why my limit is so low. I called to see if they could up it and was told not. She tried to be helpful and said I could try in 6 months, bearing in mind the offer is only available for 90 days!!!
