Warning When Cancelling Sky BB....

Some time ago I added Sky BB to my Sky Talk line when they offered it free for 24 months, it was ''supposed'' to be a speed between 4mb and 11mb. Due to my distance from the Exchange I just about managed 3.5mb, this was too slow for my needs so it was never used, I stayed with Virgin Media cable.

I recently cancelled Sky TV (with great difficulty) and was told during the lengthy procedure that the BB was not on contract so I asked for it to be cancelled also.

That is when the problems started after a week of emails and calls and finally being dealt with by the Exec Office the outcome was this;

If you have Sky Talk and BB at the Exchange you are connected to Sky's own system.

If you have Sky Talk only you are connected to Openreach.

Should you decide to cancel Sky BB then you are moved from Sky's Equipment to Openreach BUT you will lose you existing phone number. As, in Sky's own words, it is not possible to port your number from their system to Openreach (Sky to Sky).

So to keep your number to must leave Sky as I have had to do(or keep BB).

Be warned.

    Sky is an LLU service, unless you are on the dire Sky Connect, which is a resold BT service and so non-LLU. LLU to non-LLU and vice versa is not normally a problem, but many providers cannot handle LLU to LLU, even though it is technically possible.
