For those of you (perhaps without an A) that shop in T and compare against M, and use items from the Avs M list, they don't quite work in the way they used to - as some of the items in M are on RTC and therefore should not work in T. These are not indicated on Avs M as they ought automatically to work if they have them in their M collection stores (it's not automatic collection, it's actually manual but there we go...). They are mainly the waters, the alcohol cans that I am adding on, the normally more expensive 10p items that seem extremely unlikely indeed to work, the Princes Salmon, Mackerel and Tuna and the YOO Hot Dogs tins.
Where items are on 'buy in M', they are italicised if they should be available for comparison from T. Where items are available on t.com, I indicate with "RTC" and don't put the item into italics if it is on RTC in M and therefore shouldn't work on TBG. However, I may not mark an item as "RTC" if either I am unaware that it is RTC (because that hasn't been marked on the shelf in any M where I've seen it - if TBG has the same thing, it might pick it up and compare when it shouldn't) or if an item isn't showing for T online and therefore you're not expected to be able to buy it in T anyway - in this case I don't put the item into italics as it shouldn't compare in T.
I may put the odd item here and there into italics in error and suggest it is a Tvs M item when in fact it isn't - because I am unaware that it is RTC in M if I've never seen that indicated in any M I've used. It's not always straightforward trying to use information from instores and getting the correct position. There is one item from yesterday that I suspect may be an RTC price, though that isn't indicated in the store in which I have picked it up from - and, if that turns out to be available in T, I won't be putting it into italics due to the suggestion, to me, the initiated person - the vast majority of people would not even think it might be - that it might be RTC. There's no mention of RTC or anything that most people would twig on about it - and, in another M somewhere, it may be very clear that this product is RTC. Or there may in fact be no indication of any RTC anywhere because it isn't. I obviously don't know whether it is or is not, because I've used the M in which the matter for me is not totally clear. If it is in fact not RTC - and therefore there would not be any indication that it is RTC anywhere - then I would always have the doubt whatever I saw, because of the price compared to the other items in the range - the only way I would not would be if they put a label onto the shelf saying, for example, "This item is not RTC" [my emphasis, could be theirs - they wouldn't have to emphasize it for me though] and obviously that wouldn't happen! It would only be if something was in fact RTC that I would ever know, if I came across a store that marked the item as such on the shelf or label.
So, sometimes a "lack of clarity" may come from something that isn't expected to be indicated - such as the lack of an RTC on a product. (Namely if the product is not on RTC, you wouldn't expect them to indicate that fact.)
From my POV, I am looking at the SEL and thinking that, from that, the product might be RTC. I don't know as that isn't stated. I would never have this thought at all and the matter would never arise if every product that was ever on RTC in M was always on every occasion marked to indicate it is RTC.0 -
