I'm another one who had solar panels put in at the end of 2013. It cost us just over six thousand pounds (and happened to get a mini ipad thrown in for free from the company:j). We get paid around six hundred and fifty a year and we pay eight pounds each month for our leccie! I am at home a lot during the day to be able to take advantage of it and am like the Solar police. If it's not generating enough (for example over 2.5kw)then the washing machine's not going on! I even bought a 600w kettle which takes an age to boil but at least I can use it on cloudier days!"Rain is grace; rain is the sky descending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life."0

Does anyone have solar panels ?
Are they cost effective ?
TIA
There is a good article on MSE about it. Basically, the viability significantly reduced in February when the government changed the financial model so the incentives were significantly reduced.

We started looking properly into it in December, by which time it was too late. You and I have probably missed the boat.
