  • Impatience? Why do you think the request you included on the return would be ignored?

Always do have to manually request repayment not sure why! have been doing this for years
  • Submitted mine on the 6th just after noon successfully but it still shows as:
    Issued on:06 Apr 2017
File on paper by:31 Oct 2017
    File online by:31 Jan 2018
    Submitted on:06 Apr 2017
    Received on:Not Yet Received
Help about: Received on: Not yet received - opens in a new window
Should show as received on 06 Apr 2017 like last year go to the submission page and everything is OK and got my submission code.
The good old days in 2011 when I got a refund issued within 2 days of submission...

Why am I being impatient? like I said for the past 6 years I have included these details while submitting my return but I have always still had to request the repayment. god some people should read what you put originally.
  • You haven't "had" to request repayment you simply haven't been patient enough for the process to complete fully.

If you'd checked back after a few days you'd no doubt have seen the repayment issued in accordance with the claim you made on the return.

What you've chosen to do is make a second claim whilst the first one is being processed. Dont be surprised if you now get selected for one of the infamous security checks the other posters on here have mentioned.

How do you know what I have done? for the first few years I have waited as that was what I thought seen as I had already requested it while submitting. you will find some still need to request manually good for you if you don't. jeeeeezzz get off your high horse.

  • Hi there,

I've managed to submit my Self Assessment form!

If you change your voluntary NI Contribution to 'NO' it may work! It did for me anyway!
    Good luck!
  • Hi , Ye I've also changed mine to no , and it has now worked , thanks a lot for your help 👍

Be patient folks. Think of a glacier slowly making its way down a mountain. HMRC moves slower than that.

  • Anyone who has the error code 8374 like I had , try changing your voluntary NI contributions to NO and it should let you submit , it worked for me , good luck
