Good morning everyone
Thanks for the start Ally - are you feeling better now?
Happy birthday LaE:bdaycake:
Ziggy - I hate the internet sometimes. For every decent person there's another one online trolling etc. Stick with us - we know what a fantastic human being you are :grouphug: I haven't ventured far from the dfw boards, os is the only other place I would consider posting.
Had a bit of a lie in this morning - didn't wake up until after 8am, which was lovely. I don't feel as groggy as I usually do today either. As is the norm during the hols I'm sitting here catching up with a cuppa.
Not a nsd today - it's bestie's last day off work and we're off out with the kids. Hopefully not too expensive but we'll see how that goes. I can't fault my own kids, neither of them have asked for very much over the hols. I think we're doing play area then lunch.
Other plans for today:Check banking and PAD
reconcile YNAB
investigate cheap lunch options
minimal housework
day out with bestie and kids
more crochet (mermaid tail number 2 is started)
try and get my school work done? :rotfl: Unlikely
try not to stress
maybe try and have a money conversation with dh. Time for him to start transferring a bit of £ back over to my account.
try and get some exercise done
That will do for now - have a good day everyone! :TNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

1. Being picked up by my mum to go to the market (saves my petrol :A
2. Work out meal plans for the Next week as become a hoarder of food and need to use it up!
3. Buy veg/fruit from market towards closing time to get it cheaper to use with food at home as mentioned above
4. Put last nights leftover cash from outing back in to account then transfer to EF
5. Contemplate writing some of my dissertation (probably won't happen!)
Good luck everyone else today :beer:Love my DMP left to pay £0/ £10162.51

Free Postcode Lottery - yep won this back in the days when it was just £20 per draw, I've also had bonus paid out a couple of times such as birthday time when I've been cheeky and asked for it
The Street Lottery - won this last month, only $5 (£3) but better than nowt
Lucky Phone - won a few times at the start, not so much now it's getting busier, points adding up slowly
NumberPlate Lotto - not won on main draw but did get £25 for their 1st referral competition they did
I'm on hols this week so making the most of it by relaxing, recharging the batteries and spoons up, doing bits of housework here and there and catching up on my website stuff.
Got fed up last night with sun pouring through kitchen window so one super king size quilt cover (OH bought the wrong size ages ago) is now one long kitchen curtain and the bit I cut off cos it was too long, that's gone into the bathroom to give us more privacy upstairs.
Wish I'd done it sooner, it looks amateur-ish but will do until we get the proper stuff sorted out0 -
I'll be getting in touch with London midland to get a 100% refund on my ticket from London to Birmingham yesterday as I was over an hour late 👍

Hi All,
Haven't been around for a while but hope you are all well. Searching like a madwoman for a new place but no luck so far as we get help with some of our rent so no one wants to touch usnot been very well for a couple of months, a cold that does not want to go however I now have severe chest pains, even worse when I cough or sneeze so been in complete agony the last two days.
On a positive note, my £140 has been confirmed from quidco but I realised I hadn't updated my bank info so a small delay getting that! Much needed as a bit of a spendy month this month xDMP Started June 20160 -
Hello Wednesday People,
Well, it's D-Day today with the Very Sick Car. It had just passed its MOT with flying colours & didn't even have anything flagged up under 'advisory', but a couple of days later, a very worrying noise started when pulling away from junctions, driving in low gears, etc. It soon progressed, so that in addition to the Very Worrying Noise, we were now also getting a grinding sound & a 'wheeeee' sort of squeal. It sounded expensive & we began contingency plans for bringing our car replacement plans forward a year if the repair bill turned out to be astronomical. We put it in for a service today, a couple of thousand miles early, to get a diagnosis. Well, it could be a lot worse. Appears to be the clutch. It needs a new one, which we've been told will be in the 'ballpark region' of £350 to £400. If this turns out to be correct (we're booking it in for next week), then that is about 100% better outcome than I was expecting. It's a really horrible, scary noise which just screamed ££££-signs at me. Feeling much less stressed about it now, but just hoping that this turns out to be the problem, & new clutch solves it. If so, then the slowly growing car fund can remain intact for now. Sorry that's so boring, but it's been a huge money worry for me this last week. Other things:
*Potted up my baby red lettuces into modules (not the bought ones. Oh no. Used the empty containers from mini-fromage frais. Pierced the bases for drainage & wedged them into a large seed tray. No point chucking those out & BUYING plastic seed modules!)
*Checked rest of veggie babies. Took the fleece off, but left them under their plastic bottle cloches as there's a shocking cold wind here today.
*Did last of the week's laundry. Too showery & hailstoney to peg out, so on heated airer but I won't switch it on until tonight for the cheap tariff.
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water.
*Free fitness. Boosted my step count up to over 5000 by going for a walk first thing.
*Did a few surveys.
*Shuffled some funds & updated grocery budget to reflect petty cash addition.
*Finish knitting socks.
*Did a new freezer list.
*Inspired by the new freezer list, I did next week's meal plans.
*Photographed my knitted cats ready for my facebook selling page, which I hope to have ready by this weekend. They look very sweet in their little bags & all have names now. I shall be quite sorry to part with them, as they've sat on the shelf watching me for so long!
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Updated filofax & calendar. Being very organised always ends up saving me money.
*Checked ebay listings. The magazine I listed for about the 6th time has now sold, & has already been bid up to nearly twice the starting price......which is odd, as I've sold lots of mags over the last year & this one has had no interest, no watchers, not a sniff, yet now 2 people want it. Just shows it's worth persevering with re-listings when they're free.
*Froze 2 portions of the lamb curry I made yesterday.....tried a new recipe. A little fussy, but gorgeous curry. Also froze a big bag of home made bread rolls & 6 portions of home made red onion & rosemary foccaccia, which is useful to grab out of the freezer for quick packed lunches, or to turn a soup into a meal, etc.
*Hoovered only the 2 rooms which needed it, thus saving both my energy & the paid for kind.
*Read lovely new cookery book I borrowed from the library as I know there will be at least a couple of recipes I want to jot down to try.....should be nice affordable ones too, as the book is about cooking with pulses.
*Refilled my wax burner with more smashed up leftover wax from a used up scented candle. I often get bought these for gifts as I love candles & once the wicks have burned down, there is nearly always wax left, which is still scented so can be used as a 'wax melt' on a burner as normal.
Hope everyone having a reasonable day today. Stay warm in this wind! It's lovely when the sun's out, but the wind is very cold.
Ziggy - I agree with Dawn's assessment of people who post mean comments on the internet....though I would add the following...not only are they probably living at their Mum's & sitting typing away up in their bedroom, they're probably sitting there IN THEIR PANTS! So pay no heed to it.
MaketheChange - Sorry things are still tough. That lergy seems to be hanging around for a long time. Hope you feel better soon. Perhaps better check with the Dr it's not a chest infection? They can kick in after a cold & make you feel tired & low.
Right, must get those needles clacking now.............kettle on first?

Evening everyone. My brain is still pretty insistent that it's Friday and I'm really chuffed to keep remembering that I have a couple of days more than I thought I did before I go back to work :j
Productive, but spendy day... however, bearing in mind that the holiday is almost over and that's the first day I've spent any significant money then I'm ok with that. £21 in a kids play place, and £24 for a carvery lunch which isn't really too bad for 3 of us, and bearing in mind I got hours of quality time with bestie while the kids entertained each other then everyone's a winner. The spends are in YNAB and budget is ongoing.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
[STRIKE]Check banking and PAD[/STRIKE] For some reason, today I've woken up with renewed money saving effort and want to get on and make some savings.
[STRIKE]reconcile YNAB[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]investigate cheap lunch options[/STRIKE] Deal on a carvery for 4 for £20 so just drinks plus one meal to pay for
minimal housework someone *who shall remain nameless but is about 7 years old* left the freezer door open so I had to defrost it in order to be able to close the door properly again. That took 2 hours, on top of the usual dishes, hoover, washing.
[STRIKE]day out with bestie and kids[/STRIKE]
more crochet (mermaid tail number 2 is started)
[STRIKE]try and get my school work done? :rotfl: Unlikely[/STRIKE] I only blimming did it. Go away work dreams - it's done!
[STRIKE]try not to stress[/STRIKE]
maybe try and have a money conversation with dh. Time for him to start transferring a bit of £ back over to my account. I haven't done this yet thanks to ds disaster with the freezer, but want to do it tonight while I'm in a good mood. Hopefully he will be in a similarly good mood when he gets home.
[STRIKE]try and get some exercise done[/STRIKE]
It's been a pretty good day all in all. So far. DH isn't home from work yet and the kids aren't in bed yet, but so far so good. There's been good news on a couple of issues that have been bugging me as well. I like days like thisNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt

On the radio they were advertising a site called MyCarNeedsA.com (Link). I don't know if this would be of any benefit to you? I haven't used it myself.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
