Wed 6th Apr - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning All

Zig just read your post last night. So sorry it all got so stressful and horrible. I hope sincerely that today is better.

    La E Happy birthday!

Yorkshire I hope your husband will be better soon. I really feel for you and CCL having so much worry about your OH'S and income/work. Hope the boozy teens behaved themselves.

Had one of those nights. DD feeding on and off all night. Plus the classic get up to change one nappy. Get back into bed to the tune of another being filled...deep sigh...5am saw me finally trying to settle down. So today I need all the coffee. Sorry :)

Today I will continue to focus on pinching the pennies via any means I can. It's quite cold here now but I didn't use the tumble drier yesterday and have the heating off so hoping my washing will dry ok. But the saving is egging me on :)
DH will be taking a lunchbox and so will DS who is off to a sports camp thing for the day. It is a community scheme and quite cheap in the overall scheme of things. I can't keep him in the house with us each day so we are staggering it with DH working from home some days to help.
Will be checking that the bills I expect to go out today (mortgage) do.
General tidying and decluttering as well. Got rid of 5 items yesterday. I agree with the chat on that front.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Bob

    Morning all :)
Thanks for the start Ally - do you get to choose the sweeties?
Happy Birthday La E - those muffins sound nice, can we all come to work at your office today? :D
Ziggy, ((hugs)) I don't know what it is with people who are horrible to others on internet forums, I guess they think it is ok as it is anonymous... I always think of them as unattractive individuals with no social skills and no friends, who spend far too much time in their bedrooms at their Mums' :rotfl: Not like us on here, we are the best :T Seriously though, they can cause a lot of hurt to people who are vulnerable, or are feeling down due to stuff going on in RL, and they really need to get over it
Bob, hope you get a rest today :)

    For me today:
Transferred some savings from a poorly paying ISA to our Santander 123 account (which pays much better interest) due to the new tax rules on savings which start today :T That is my biggie for today :D
Signed up for a cash back on Waitrose shopping offer from Santander while I was on the web site, limited time and only valid for one shop, but I might use it :)
Heating on only in airing cupboard and bathroom - I will probably turn it off later but find a cold bathroom first thing in the morning  Cold wind, rain, hail etc - left it on :(
Might need to light the wood burner this evening, as it is supposed to be turning cold again - managed without the past two nights :T It is alight now, nice and cosy :)
Dog walks for free exercise Done
HM meals from stores Done, bits from fridge and larder for lunch, and I made a huge pot of yummt ham and vegetable soup for supper. And there is loads left :D Used up some bits from the fridge (including an ancient quarter of a cabbage) and oddments from the freezer in the process. Also made a rice pudding as I have a lot of milk, having been away at the weekend, and used up some OOD but still ok smelling cream in it as well :)
Walk into town and pay in the cheque and shrapnel that I forgot yesterday Not done, pouring with rain

Can't think of anything else right now, and the dog needs letting out. Catch up later :)

    Also done:
    A few surveys for onepoll
Cheap Virgin wine offer from O2 priorities - used survey / quidco money to cover it. Sounds extravagant, but it will last ages and also do for impromptu presents etc. It also includes a couple of posh glasses which I can sell :)
Made an appointment for a haircut for scruffy mutt
Cleaned the heated towel rail / radiator thingy in the bathroom as it was really dusty :o
Restocked sales unit with new bits :)

I think it is a real thing, but having said that I have never won anything on it, and don't know of anyone who has.... Mind you, I have never won anything else either :rotfl:
