O/S Daily Wednesday 6 April 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now getting light, lots of low cloud, looking like a dull, dreich and dreary day ahead, possibly some rain too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit as he’s on school hols.

Dinner last night was tortellini and ravoli in mushroom/creamy tomato sauce with a chicken portion each, ice cream/treats from the tin for dessert. I remembered to get the pork steaks out to defrost overnight, we’ll be having those, with mash, LO cauli/broc cheese, and any other LO’s, and gravy, will do any extra veg if needed.

Yesterday work wasn’t quite so busy but we couldn’t get the money to balance and I had to do it with the manager who stood and watched me try to do it single handed, and when it didn’t balance was no good whatsoever, so I took an executive decision that we’d just re-stock the machine with the float ready to go this morning and myself and one of my normal other colleagues would go in early again this morning and sort the money out. I’ve been able to have a think of where it wasn’t balancing and think I know where it’s wrong, so hopefully with fresh eyes this morning we’ll get it sorted – but the machines are ready to go, so literally all we have to do is re-count the money put together a float to replace what we put in the machine last night and then the remaining money should be the takings left to bank, that’s my theory anyway! We’ll see. I’m working all day again but in a private office just taking telephone enquiries, so not so stressful, or I don’t personally find it so stressful. Once I finish later today I’m on days’ off, can’t wait but hopefully it’ll all start to slow down and be less stressful.

Keep safe and well x

Thanks for starting the thread nmlc.
It's raining and chilly here this morning, we will decide what to do over breakfast.

    Morning all,

Its a bit damp and drizzly here and feels a bit colder too, I have put the fire on for 10 mins.

Off to work today but I don't think it will be busy due to the weather, and we have had to cancel the event due to the weather.

Off to mums tonight for dinner so no cooking for me :jnot sure what we are having yet.

I need to phone the vet this morning, Evie's eyes have swollen a bit and her ear is bothering her, I think it might be an allergic reaction to something as it came on after her walk last night. So will get her checked over.

Hugs to those who need them, Judi Gers Candlelight and Hester.

    Have good days all xx

Goooooooood morning to one and all.

Thoughts are still with candlelight, Gers and Judi.

Up relatively early for me, so that's a good start to the day. After work I think I'll pop to the gym and visit my gran in hospital, or vice versa.

My ex-boss has put me forward for a job, a better job than I'm already in. So I'll send over my CV later today and she'll put in a good word for me which is very nice of her.

    Morning everyone,

Pouring with rain here this morning, it is good job that I managed to mow the lawn yesterday.
I have to drop the car at the garage this morning for its MOT so fingers crossed, I could really do without another big bill.

Hugs to Candlelight, Gers, Judi and Hester.

Have a lovely day everyone. :)

I turned up at the garage yesterday for the car service only to find that I was a week early!

The DFS rep turned up and said that the damage to the settee was wear and tear caused by sweat and grease from a head (DH) and so wasn't covered. He said it was in the T & C's so DH looked at them and showed him they didn't say anything about it. He also checked the 5 year warranty which we'd been told we weren't covered by and said : "So you're sure it's been caused by sweat and grease?" The man said yes so DH showed him the sentence which said the settee was covered for damage from bodily fluids. He tried to argue but really didn't have a leg to stand on so it is being repaired. It makes a change the small print working for you instead of against.

I haven't been sleeping well the last two nights and I'm not feeling great so I'll have a quiet day I think.

Still thinking of Candlelight, Gers, Judi and Hester, I hope you all have good days.

Morning all. No rain here (yet!) it's quite bright and breezy. Sadly heavy showers are forecast.

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday in Ilkley, browsing the cs's and picking up a few ys bargains in M & S (just remembered I forgot to hand over my new Sparks card!!) Lunch was, as planned, in 'Spoons and I stuck to my resolution and had the Chicken, Avocado & Bacon salad (500 cals) It was actually really nice and would have again. Mr TA had his usual rump steak etc and I didn't pinch one chip off him!

It's the girlie (old biddy) monthly wine and carvery night tonight and I am determined to just have meat and veg, avoiding the mash and roasties! I won't be passing on the vino though!

My BSD first week is up and not done quite as well as I had hoped but, there again, I have fallen by the wayside a few times with sinful snacks! I stuck to it at meal times though! I have lost 3 lbs so I suppose that's not bad considering the lapses!

Shopping has been brought forward a day as Mr TA has his appt at St James tomorrow. I bought so much salad stuff and veg last week there is still a lot left in the fridge (still fine thanks to all the Stayfresh bags they are in!) So we don't need a great deal this week.

I have waffled on a bit so have a good day all (((HUGS))) to all in need, esp GERS, JUDI, HESTER & CANDLELIGHT (I hope there is better news for you) CAMELOT enjoy your time with your DS. Take care all xx

    Morning :hello:

dumpling I hope yesterday went well for you xx

Speky The egg thing is really annoying – especially as I keep chickens! I'll just have to eat more cake, lol.
My teacher from infant school wrote yesterday's quote in a card for me when I left – 38 years ago! - and I've never forgotten it.

Mr tru decided he wanted a towel rail in the bathroom so things have been changed in there again! I'm fed up with thinking jobs are finished then having to start moving things around again, so I stayed well out of it. That is, until the capped off pipe sprang a leak. Then the water pressure dropped so the boiler wouldn't switch on and I had no hot water. Hopefully there won't be a flood when the rail is connected today. The wall was a mess behind the radiator, the holes needed filling then it had to be painted. We have no filler and the sandpaper has gone missing so the wall couldn't be smoothed down, so he slapped some paint on as it was and said he sort it properly later on today, after work. The rail will be on the wall by then so good luck with that!

We've had packs of laminate stacked under the stairs for while, waiting to be fitted in the kitchen. Master tru has some spare time today so he's going to fit it this afternoon. I am pleased about this – I AM! – but was miffed as the carpet was ripped up and put into the van to be dumped, I only cleaned it a couple of days ago, lol.

My fridge freezer is in the hall and my seedlings are spread around the lounge. The kitchen chairs will be moved into the lounge in a mo. The table is too big to fit through the doorways inside so will have to go in the garden, it's raining and I can't find the huge polythene sheet to cover it with.

My shopping's being delivered in the middle of all this – arranged before the work was – and I have no idea where it's going to go while the kitchen is upside down.

    Good morning everyone

It's a cold and rainy morning here today, hubby has gone to work and the girls are, surprise surprise, still in bed. I will be heading there in a bit as I am absolutely shattered after not sleeping last night.

I managed to get out yesterday to a shopping centre but I couldn't stop shaking and then I burst into tears so it was all rather embarrassing. I managed to calm myself and we got the bits I needed but I was very glad to scuttle back into my house again. It doesn't feel like it's getting any easier so I am feeling a bit discouraged to be honest.

Hopefully my oven should be fixed today so I am going to bake some potatoes for tea. I just made sausage and chips for the family last night and I had sausage and egg. I am going to turn into an egg at this rate so I am going to make something else for me tonight.

Thinking of you Gers, Candlelight and Judi. So much worry and sadness on here at the moment. Wishing you strength and peace for the coming days.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone,

Bit of a lie-in as day off today, true to form it's wet and dull.

Need to get out this morning and pick up a big bag of food for Rosie, have a money off voucher for PAH so will go in there for it. Will also go to the market for some veg, don't need much fruit as seem to be mainly eating blueberries and apples.

First week on the BSD for me too and have lost 4lbs, am pleased with that as, although have stuck quite strictly to the food etc, did have a small glass of wine on Friday and Saturday night.
Have to say now in swing of it am enjoying the food and not missing bread, pasta etc at the moment. We have chicken with spicy lentils last night which was delic. Do struggle with breakfasts on work days as don't fancy many of the options at just gone 7am, tend to have couple of oat cakes with small amount of peanut butter.

Anyways, better drink my tea and get going.
Hugs to Candlelight, Gers and Judi, take care everyone and have a good day x
