Hi
I am moving back in with parents on Thursday and have tried to cancel my plus net account for my Internet and phone and been told that to cancel will charge me £177 as when the new owner moves in he will get his own phone supplier. I asked if I could carry on paying my monthly bill and not cancel but they wouldn't let me do this as the phone line needs to be active. My parents have their own Internet and phone supplier so can't transfer to their house. I feel that charging me this is wrong. Please can anyone help. Thank you

Why is it wrong you took out a contract .
You are breaking the contract .
It cannot be that you can hold the new owner to ransom over the phone and services .

I am offering to continue to pay my monthly direct debit rather than pay a lump sum. It has nothing to do with the new owner it's plus net that won't let me carry on with contract, it seems wrong, if I am offering to continue to pay a monthly fee when I will not even be using their services0

As it is you that is ceasing service at the address you are moving away from, you are liable for early termination charges.
The early termination charges are due as services will cease and your account closed.
If this does put you in financial hardship, try speaking with customer services and they might discuss paying over a few months, but there is no obligation for them to do this.
The bottom line is, this is all in the Terms and Conditions that you agreed to when you took out service from Plusnet.0
