Need 2 electrical sockets for Semi Detached House. How much should a electrician charge me for this job?

  • Not being funny but that will depend on the work required.

Where is the power going to come from, where are the new sockets going, etc?

Do you mean one double socket or two single sockets in completely separate locations?

At least you've specified it's a semi-detached house though. That will make a big difference to the price!

Seriously, there isn't enough info in the OP to give any sort of sensible answer. Either give full details of what's needed or ask electricians to give you quotations then compare the prices to see if they're sensible.

There is no specific amount that an electrician "should" charge. All jobs are different and the degree of difficulty is reflected in the price. Just ask an electrician for a quote and don't say to him that people on a forum think that it should cost so much. If you do, he will reply "well get one of them to do it for the forum price,"
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Well I need the sockets in my hall way. 2 sets of doubles. One near the front door and One near the Back Door. I have 2 sets in the bedroom above so it would be a simple case of dropping two wire channels down from the celling and then wiring in two Boxes.

    That sort of job.

    Sounds like a diy job..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Forget about asking for prices here. Nobody knows your house, or what finish you want (do you need to channel through walls, have decorating done, need any fusebox changes), or what the distances are. I'll tell you £250, but that is worthless information.

Get three separate electricians to quote for it. Be clear what you want so they are quoting like for like. If you still don't trust the prices then get another quote. Then choose one.

I don't live in England or Wales but I still know that to be incorrect.

If your upstairs and downstairs are on different circuits, you can't mix them. They should either be Spurs from down stairs or added to the downstairs ring. As others have said, depends totally on the specifics of your house as to how hard or easy it will be.
