Not so. You need to be self employed or run a business, or be nominated by a business.

    From their website:
To be entitled to a Makro Tradecard, you need to be in business or authorised to buy on behalf of a business.
    REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS required:

    Companies/Organisations
    (1) V.A.T. Certificate of incorporation from Companies House
or copy of business bank account statement.
    (2) Two recent purchase Invoices over the value of £50 each.
    (3) Personal Photographic I.D of the cardholder.
    Self-Employed
    (1) Recent correspondence from HMRC (Inland Revenue)
or photographic Inland Revenue registration card
or a copy of a recent business tax assessment.
    (2) Two recent purchase invoices over the value of £50 each.
    (3) Personal Photographic I.D of the cardholder.

I'm self employed and not VAT registered. I got my card by showing them my Inland Revenue Self Assessment form (before filling it in!) and proof that I'd bought spent more than £50 in one transaction at Staples and more than £50 in one transaction at Viking Direct (I bought a printer at Staples and a chair and paper from Viking).
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Also not so ( as far as I'm aware)
They have always been very good at returning/replacing faulty goods, in fact you can take anything back in 28days for any reason.

I have found them to be very good with returns in the past - as long as you have your invloice with you.

  • Makro are brilliant, and the 28 no quibble returns policy is better than most stores! Remember that if you work for any government agency or public services (police/nhs etc)you can also qualify for membership.
