Contract at Tesco Mobile running out

Hi folks,
With my current contract at Tesco Mobile I get 500 mins, 5000 texts and 500mb for £7.50. But the contract runs out at the end of the month - I can already renew.
However, they are offering me a worse deal for the same money if I upgrade, just 250 mins, 5000 texts and 500mb originally and then they offered either an extra 100 mins or an extra 250mb on top.
My usage is generally below 250mins (only gone over 4 times in 2 years - never over 500mins). I never get anywhere near 5000 texts, it's usually about 200. Data has been over 500mb 3 times in the last 2 years, but those 3 times were all in the last 6 months. I would like more data.
When it comes to handsets, I need a new handset. At the moment Tesco have only offered me an Alcatel Popstar or a Motorola E 2nd Gen. I've seen that Talkmobile also offer Motorola G 3rd Gen, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, Vodafone Smart Prime 6 for the same price or a Sony Experia E4 for £1/more more. I mainly use my phone for: making & receiving calls, sending texts, browsing internet, taking photos, making video clips. I don't generally use it for watching films or playing games
I've not threatened to leave yet (I really don't want to actually leave as they've been pretty good.) but I have asked for PAC Codes in the past to get what I want - I'm not exactly an old hand but I've negotiated before.
Is there any particular package I should be holding out for? Is there any particular strategy I should be using. I shop regularly at Tesco's - would they care about that or can I use it as a bargaining chip? Any advice about getting a better deal/a better handset gratefully received.

Sorry I can't help with the package but I was with Tesco for years and tried several times to 'negotiate' to no avail. Even when I asked for my PAC. So I left.
All my family are with Tesco too and they've never gotten a deal either.
They may offer a few extra minutes or a bit more data but they don't seem to have much room for 'deals'.
To be honest for the handsets your looking at I wouldn't dream of signing up to a 24 month contract. Not when you can buy them for £50-£70ish and get a chepo sim only.
I pay life mobile £6 for 1500mins unlimited text and 1gb data.
There's always plenty of <£10 sim only deals posted over on HUKD.Sigless0 -
Remember the contract isn't running out, the minimum term is.0

As above, buy something like a Moto G outright and switch to a Tesco Mobile SIM-only package, starting at £7.50. If you do nothing, your contract does not expire or need renewing, it just runs on until you give 30 days notice. Though of course, you won't get a new handset.
If you want 1GB data, you'll have to pay £10 a month, the £7.50 deal is 500MB only.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
