Overnight stay-Hotel between Manchester and Cornwall?

Hoping you lovely people can help?
We are going to Marazion in Cornwall in Aug and as we are travelling from Manchester with 2 young children, I am thinking of booking a hotel so that we can break up the journey (last time we went it took us 13 hours to get there:eek: but it was a bank holiday)
Can anyone suggest where might be the best place to stay? Bristol?
Somewhere scenic would be nice but not far from the motorway.
Thank you!

it's not scenic but we always stay at the Days Inn at Michael Wood, family room about £50, cheap and cheerful, we just arrive at night, sleep get up and go so it's all we've ever needed.0

Thank you-cheap and cheerful is what I am looking for! I will look into your suggestion. Much appreciated!Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0

Another option might be this, near Bristol Airport. Stayed there a few times.

Just checked availability-nothing for what we need at Days Inn :-(Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0

I would look for something further along than the days inn at michael wood. I've got friends in dursely which is about five minutes from there and it's only 2 and a half hours drive from Manchester to there.
You want to be looking somewhere another hour along I would say. E.g past Taunton.0 -
Portishead? Just past Bristol. I stopped there on the way to Cornwall last year, just for lunch. There's a park with boating lake just outside the town centre which was popular with families. I did notice a hotel in the centre, but can't remember which one - was one of the chains.
Personally, if I had to spend a night at Michael Wood I would probably throttle someone. That service station is hell on earth.0 -
There are Days Inns at Gordano, (Jct19-M5 Bristol) and Sedgemoor (Jct22-M5 Weston-Super-Mare).0

weve stayed previously at Bridgwater m5 (travelodge) further down that St Michaels wood.... Not the best location - but just off motorway, and handy for the journey xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

There's a Premiere in at Portishead, it's a bit nicer than the Days Inn at Gordano and has the benefit of being right next door to a large Sainsbury's, ideal for filling up with petrol and food before setting off for the final leg.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
