EPC - Light Bulbs

On an Energy Performance Certificate where it states "Low energy lighting in xx% of fixed outlets" does that mean per light fitting or per bulb if say for example, your fancy living room ceiling light fitting has 3 bulbs in it?

Also if your kitchen has 4 GU10 spot lights all controlled off the same switch, is that classed as 4 lights or 1?

if it's a "low energy fitting" then it's the fitting, but you can use low energy bulbs in standard ceiling roses which would also count as low energy fittings. It doesn't matter how many bulbs on each fitting, i.e. if you put low enegy bulbs in your chandelier that would count as 1 fixed outlet and not 27 fixed outlets...
are you trying to fudge the percentages for something?

The low energy bulbs don't actually have to be working.

If the person doing the EPC was able to count, they'd have found a more skilled job such as working in McDonalds. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Pointless question as it's a pointless report.

The assessor wanders into the room, glances at the lights, makes a snap judgement on whether it's an energy efficient bulb or not, and moves on.

Who knows if it's really incandescent, LED, florescent etc etc? Might be/might not be.
And who knows if he counted the bulbs?

    and who cares?

if you remove all your lightbulbs, does that give you a better EPC rating?

Whether the reports are crap, pointless, etc, aside I don't care. We are trying to get an as high rating as possible to "make it look good."

If a light fitting has 3 bulbs in it and only 1 of the bulbs is energy efficient, what happens? Does the whole fitting get marked down as being energy efficient or not? :)

    - Honey, look! They have energy saving bulbs.
    - OK, forget what I said about the budget. We must get this house, I don't care how much we have to offer!

When I've viewed houses, I typically just ask vendors how much their bills are. I'm not interested in a phony certificate produced by a halfwit who thinks spending £2K on a new boiler to save £50 a year is a good investment.

If you're obsessed, just replace all the bulbs with LEDs.
