These vacuums simply aren't worth the money they are now being re-listed at and there's hardly any demand for them. Others would be selling old stock vacuums at high prices if demand is there - but that isn't happening.
The EU law also bans any high powered vacuum cleaner over 1600 watts for general sale in the UK.
If that's really the case they won't sell will they. But you can bet your bottom dollar that there are people out there who will buy them.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

What's the problem, are you crying because you missed the boat and can no longer get a cheap 1600 watt vacuum now!0 -
How would you know. If you're right then nobody will buy them at those prices, simple as.
Existing stock is excluded.
Thank you for clarifying that. As for "How would I know?" Well I don't but I'm going by simple market forces.
There are plenty of private and independent dealers in the UK who still have old stock vacuums but because of the news of the EU law and the changes, buyers aren't all flocking to the stores to get the last of the vacuums in question.
Therefore there is LITTLE actual demand on a national scale for old stock vacuums.0 -

Sorry I dont have evidence - but you can look on EBay and Amazon UK at the moment, search for companies selling old stock vacuums. Try it now - have a look for Miele S4212 or a Miele S8310 online. Compare the pricing with old 2000/2200 watt and 1600 watt ones. Consider the lack of sellers who are selling old. Consider the existing companies who have been selling for more than a year who are selling off old stock.
You'll find there are very few who have old stock high wattage vacuums left. And few are over pricing for the privilege.0 -
You're totally contradicting yourself now. First you inform us that there are "plenty of private and independent dealers in the UK who still have old stock vacuums" (even though you have no real idea) and in the very next post you state "You'll find there are very few who have old stock high wattage vacuums left".
You clearly have no idea what you're talking about and no clue about how market forces work.
Like I said, if all you came for is a rant then please post in the other forum.0 -

There is no scam, there is nothing illegal and there is nothing dubious about what the sellers in question are doing.
They have listed items for sale at a price and leaving it up to potential customers to decide whether or not to buy those items.0 -

Supply and demand.
If there are only a few available someone who wants one will pay more for it.
Not everyone wants a lower powered vacuum. If someone is willing to pay a premium for a higher powered one then that is their choice.
Why does it upset you?
My local Coop charge more for some items than the local Tesco do but plenty people choose to pay extra and buy from the COOP. Their choice to do so0 -
It doesn't upset me. But I dont like to see buyers being ripped off. One reason alone to why I joined MSE.
I own a 15 year old vacuum cleaner and Im happy with it.
I apologise firstly for posting in the wrong section of this forum. I couldn't find the venting/warning thread on here and if anyone knows the name of the moderator that I can message to have the post added appropriately, by all means let me know.
As far as I know retailers have had to sell off old stock and no old stock is left.0 -
