O/S Daily Monday 4 April 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now getting light, wet underfoot, rained quite hard for a while last night – forecast is for some rain again this morning but not raining yet.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit as he’s on school hols.

Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, stuffing, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, Yorkshires and gravy, ice cream/treat from the tins for those that wanted some. Dinner tonight is fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg – a deliberately easy dinner due to knowing today is going to be a hard day at work, something I can just put on trays and bung in the oven! The Manager is supposed to be coming over to help us out – we’ll see if he does or sends someone else or stays in the back office!

Yesterday we got the tomato plants in to the greenhouse and have protected them with fleece as it is a bit early – but they needed to be re-potted. Hopefully we’ll be ok with this and not lose them to late frosts. DH and DS1 washed their cars respectively then we had chilled time, having lunch then watching the GP.

Keep safe and well x

Good Morning chums bit grey and overcast this morning Hopefully it will brighten up a bit later First day of the DGS school holidays today, Henry has the orthodontists this afternoon.Last night Mikey was feeling a bit off colour, and has a sore throat bless him He is so very rarely poorly doesn't even catch many colds,so I think this morning it will be lots of TLC and maybe a few games of cards to keep him amused. DGS Jack will help mow the grass today as its getting more than a bit on the long side.

Hope all goes peacefully for Gers today, and <<hugs>> for those who need one

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Thinking of Gers today, hope it all goes as well as possible x

Up bright and early when the alarm went off at 5.30. It is 17 years since my hubby and I got back together. I will be raising a glass later to my dear departed friend who engineered it.

The girls are all fast asleep and I will leave them there for a few more hours yet. DD13 has to sort out her room this week as I have a new bed coming for her at the end of the week. Poor hubby has a lot of flat pack furniture to swear together :D.

I am hopeful that the engineer will come today and fix my cooker. I have planned a few meals that don't involve the oven anyway just in case. We are having chicken fajitas for tea. I shall be avoiding the wraps and putting my fajita mix in lettuce leaves.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all, a grey morning and the weather report is dismal so my washing will go on the racks indoors.
I will be off to work soon, not rushing in as I did some work each day last week to keep up and will be working into the evening today.
Am about to have some toast and then a shower.
Still sneezing and snuffling, I am not looking forward to this week. Still, I have a job to go to and many don't.
    Onwards and upwards.
Gers, I hope today is as bearable as possible, also thinking of judi and candlelight.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning all

Looks like it will be another nice day here, off to work for me and another busy one as we have Easter egg hunts going on today which is usually packed. I am still suffering a bit with my back so will be careful.

DD off today and has a driving lesson later on, she can put the dinner in the oven for me later, I think it might be a curry or something with chicken anyway.

Washing is up to date so will give the wm the night off and I need to sweep through downstairs.

Gers I hope it goes as well as possible today xx

    Candlelight thinking of you xx

    Hugs for Judi xx

Morning all. Hope all is going as well as it can for GERS and family on the other side of the world. Thoughts are with JUDI and HESTER too, having a bad time just now. Hugs to the CANDLELIGHTS.

It's DD's birthday today (43, where have the years gone?) so she and the eldest DGD - along with DD's friend and daughter, are having a shopping day in Leeds and finishing off with a meal in Bella Italia before heading home. We have the two youngest DGDs for the day, and maybe overnight, as traipsing round the shops is not their idea of fun! What we do with them depends on the weather!

DD started her "celebrations" on Friday with a pamper session and then her and BF went to Leeds for a meal in a posh restaurant. Followed by o/n in a nice hotel. BF is such a generous, kind and thoughful lad (unlike her ex!!!) and had arranged for a bunch of red roses and a bottle of champagne to be waiting in the room and rose petals scattered on the bed!

I am still checking every 5 mins that my wedding ring is still on my finger! I still can't believe my luck at spotting it just laying there on the chippings after all the searching I did all those months ago! Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to all in need/want of them and take care xx

    Morning everyone,

Dry but dull here, had quite a bit of rain yesterday evening but after a lovely day, warm and sunny, perfick for a Sunday.

Work today and am meeting a friend for lunch so that should break the day up well. We are meeting at the restaurant on the park, they have a good salad bar so hopefully will find enough to stick to the BSD. Doing well and already feel better for it, helps my DOH is doing it with me, he has put on over a stone since starting to work from home a year ago, think there has been a fair bit of cake tin raiding going on :rotfl:

Gers - hope everything goes as well as possible, take care x
Hugs to Candlelight, Judi and anyone who needs one x

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi everyone,

TA, I'm so glad you found your ring. DS' fiance confessed to me that she lost my grandmother's engagement ring that DS proposed to her with. Luckily she found it and had it tightened but she was far more upset about it than I was.

Gers, Judi, Candlelight and Hester, I hope your day's as good as it can be.

Today marks the start of the blood sugar diet for me and DH. I'm not convinced DH will be able to manage without carbs - he's a big bloke (he hasn't got a belly and people never notice when he puts on weight because it goes on all over) but I've told him to eat a bigger meal at work if he needs to. I'm hoping it helps with some of my digestion problems which have been getting worse for the last couple of years. Anyway I'm off to Lidl this morning to buy lots of veg and I shall call in at DS' to pick up the spiralizer I lent them which they haven't got around to trying out.

Apart from that I shall be sewing the patchwork blocks I prepared while I was away.

    Hav a good day.

    Good morning all!

Lot's of people needing our strong support and kind messages. I love sympathetic and compassionate feeling this thread continues to provide.

I returned from my work weekend in Liverpool yesterday in time to enjoy a family dinner. Determined this week to be as conscious with my cash as possible.

Good news: i have an interview today at 6.30pm. Family friends know the manager who is interviewing me which is a positive start already. Update you all tomorrow.

    Wish me luck.
