FURIOUS with Cosmos - can they do this?

In January I booked a holiday with Cosmos for October half term. I booked this early cos I am a teacher and therefore obviously can only travel in school holidays, and I wanted to make sure I got flights at reasonable times, as I have a 5 year old child. So I booked flights leaving on Saturday lunchtime, getting back Saturday teatime.
Just had a phone call from Cosmos - they have changed my outbound flight to 17.50 - getting in at 21.50 and returning at 22.50 - getting us into gatwick at 3am!!!!!
i said no, I am not having it - I booked so early on. They said they will get back to me. Where do I stand? What can I do?

You should be entitled to cancel due to MAJOR FLIGHT CHANGE.(if you can call it that.
That is it really.
If you could get a hold of the brochure and look at the flight times. They may have bumped you on to another (cheaper?) flight if yours wasnt selling. If the flight supplements are different and you still want to go the holiday, you could maybe try and get the difference back.
Btw FURIOUS is quite a strong word for what appears (to me anyway) a pretty minor upset. I wouldnt misbehave in your class;)
ANNOYED fits better.
If you could just get A BIT MIFFED about these things, life runs so much smoother0 -

I don't agree at all. If the poster had wanted a night flight she would have booked one. Travel Agents are in the media often saying you have to book early to get exactly the holiday you want - if you leave it late you have to compromise. Booking in January for a holiday 9 months later should get you what you want. I would prefer not to bother than have disruptive night flights as I also have young children.0

Note read it all but maybe they won't class it as a major change any
The contracts seems all one way ( didn't the OFT do something a couple of years back)
That said I have found Cosmos as one of the more understanding providers ... perhaps worth seeing if anything better around , in case they offer a refund/cancellation option.Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
if I had wanted to arrive at gatwick at 3am i would have bought cheap flights with a budget carrier0

If you read their terms...it isnt a significant change and it isnt a night flight. (the outward part) and the return doesnt qualify as it hasnt been changed by more than 12 hours
Their words not mine so I guess you may be stumped.0 -
What is the actual difference in flight times? Your rights will depend on this.Gone ... or have I?0

give them a ring... i had a very good eperience with mytravel yesterday with a similar problem- they cancelled by booking free of cherge( did nt need to as was 11hr change) and i can now afford more as half term dates ar different here. I know i was lucky but they are all human after all0

I was due to leave at 12.25, now it is 17.50.
I was due to return at 0910, now it is 22500 -

In that case it looks like the return flight is a Significant change (more than 12 hours) and you have the option of cancelling and getting all you money back plus £20 but only if you notify them within 7 days.
Or you accept the change and maybe some compensation or ask them to find an alterantive.
Have you read through their t and c0
