Sky TV deal?

Sound on our TV is going and SKY are currently offering a free LG TV with the original bundle.
Also offering unlimited broadband for £5 a month.

After the disaster that I have had with BT really contemplating leaving them and joining sky

Anyone had this TV from the last time they done this deal and what is it like?:D

What's the monthly price for that bundle? You may be better off negotiating a monthly discount rather than taking the TV, and then using the saving to buy a TV. Quite often these 'free' gifts are not the most money saving.
  • £20 original bundle.

That was my concern really. Don't want a cheap cheap TV and sometimes free= cheap.

But £20 over a year = £240 so depends on how much the TV is worth but can't seem to find a model number on it.

    Sky site says:
    LG TV: Model may vary.

Googling 'Sky LG TV' brings up a few results, some of which indicate it could be the LG 32LF510B.
  • Hopefully will be told what model when I phone them..

    LG is pretty good make.
And they won't be selling cheap product as they must have followed some quality control if not all.

They are giving the set away free!

To be honest, I doubt very much LG will want to associate themselves with a "cheap" giveaway-but it won't be a top end TV set by any stretch. Screen size is only 32", so it's hardly in competition with the current crop of flat screens many of which exceed 40".

If only the sound is failing on the OP's current TV set, it might be more cost effective to purchase a sound bar than look for a new TV or sign up to Sky in order to get a less than impressive replacement.

If it were me, I'd be trying to negotiate a better monthly subscription deal and reject the free TV. See what Sky offer and then go back to BT and see if they'll match it..

Off course it won't be the top end model.

Because 4K is going to be the future and all these TV companies want to clear their inventory with old technology models.
Mind you these old models are also full HD with lots of inputs etc but just not 4K.
Plus it's a good PR for the company.

£20 a month for Sky subs plus a new 32" tele is not a bad deal.
It's actually good one in my opinion.

2 months at £20 and 10 at £22 (a price rise is due) works out at £260 and you can buy an LG , Panasonic , Sharp or Samsung 32", for much less, but including 6 years' warranty, from Richer Sounds.

The 'free' tv could also be a known brand, lower spec model, as made for supermarkets (these having different model numbers from those in manufacturers' brochures) .

To be fair, that saving would be without any Sky channels which the subscription pays for and provides.
I still think the OP should barter down the monthly price and reject the "free" TV.
  • That what I was thinking not only getting sky but a TV to go with it. Or getting TV with a reduction in monthly price of sky. Had a quick look at the make of the LG TV cheapest was about £160 from online through not heard of the company and tesco had that make for about £199.
Plus I can catch up on series and record programmes which is handy when working shifts.

Will ring sky tonight or tomorrow to see what they can offer...
