O/S Daily Sunday 3rd April 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
It's a bit chilly here this morning but forecast some sunshine later.
Gers, it was good to hear that you have arrived safely. Hope you soon adjust to being over there. Enjoy the market and the sunshine.
Judi, I was so sorry to hear of your mum's passing. Sending you much love and condolences.
Everyone here is still in bed but I had to get up as my back was aching very badly. I have a lot of tummy troubles too so that didn't help. I think I am falling to bits as I get older. Hubby keeps threatening to trade me in for a younger model:D.
My friend is coming for lunch today. He is a stalwart of the church I go to so it will be lovely to catch up on all the news. We are not having a roast as the oven is still broken but I've bought some pork chops for the grill and we can have mash and broccoli. My friend only has a tiny appetite anyway so he won't eat much.
Hooray, my knitted bunny is finally made, I just need to sew him up and stuff him and then he can go in the post. I have another one to make then for my niece who is having a baby girl next month. I will need to get cracking.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, cloudy, misty and wet underfoot, although not raining now. It's supposed to be a bright warm weekend, yesterday was lovely, hoping the cloud will clear and the sun will make an appearance.
We had a lovely day yesterday with out friends, although they both are recovering with the colds/cough virus that seems to be doing the rounds. The caravan meeting was very well supported and there was some very interesting questions asked and points made. Lunch out was lovely and good value, it was 6.45pm before we got home, so was a full day.
Today's lunch is going to be roast chicken, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, yorkshires, stuffing and gravy. I will organise the the pack ups once I've prepped the lunch and got that cooking. We'll be going to visit my parents this morning, I rang them yesterday to check they would be home, they've been to younger sister's for easter for a week and got back end of the week.
Once we've had lunch - the remainder of the day will be chilling and of course watching the GP. Back to work tomorrow and it will be a nightmare. May see if there's an other advance planning I can do for meals/food to make this week easier when I get in from work.
Have peaceful Sundays' everyone x

Morning :hello:
redruby Thanks, training bells have been orderedI was going to make it but by the time I'd paid bus fare into town and bought the bits and pieces, it would've worked out more expensive!
The weather improved yesterday, by lunchtime it was warm and sunny. It's dry at the moment but will rain later, I'll take Scampi out for a run around this morning. Unless there's small children about, then it'll be a long walk on the lead.
All the washing is dry and folded, I just need to put it away. I'll run the hoover round too. My blanket is almost finished, eight more rows to do. I'll get that done this afternoon, I'll be lounging under it on the sofa tonight

Morning all. A drab start for us with evidence of overnight rain. It's due to return late afternoon.
Glad to hear you got there safely GERS. Hope all goes smoothly with the funeral. BB you sound to have had a good birthday and your F & F did you proud with the lovely gifts you got. JUDI thinking of you. Hope you are managing to relax a bit in Devon to prepare yourself for what's ahead. CANDLELIGHT thinking of you and MR C. And HESTER too. Much love to all of you xx
I ventured into town yesterday after the belated weekend clean round. I didn't buy much but did, finally, pick up a Sparks card in M & S and got that registered when I got home. I had a browse of the sale racks whilst in there. Just tempted by one item - a strappy summer nightie reduced from £24 to £5.99. It's really pretty and a bargain price.
No plans much for today. Need to do a lights wash but doubt that will get pegged out! Still dithering over what to do for lunch as I am trying to stick to the BSD and, at the same time, making meals to build Mr TA up! I haven't been on the scales yet because, if I haven't lost anything, I know what will happen - I'll grab the goodie box and console myself by shovelling down the contents!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to anyone else in need of one and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
I had a sleepless night. Hubby woke me at 2 and I didn't sleep much after. Dogs got me up at 6 wanting to wee.
Things going round in my head that I need to sort out when I'm on my own. Last night I had a good shower. I couldn't do it before I wasn't ready. Stink, maybe I did but I could smell Mother. I wasn't ready to let go. It wasn't a bad smell but a smell nonetheless that I didn't want to get rid of.
Like I said, when I get to be on my own I'll be able to analyse things better. Hubby will be back at work a week tomorrow.
Dunno what hubby has got planned for the day but he's doing his end of year accounts. £4000 in accommodation and fuel he's just informed me.
Just a little reminder that life goes on.
Onwards and forwards

Morning All
Happy Birthday for yesterday BB, sounds like you had a lovely day.
LW - Did you enjoy the Opera?
RR - What a clever puppy!
tru - That garden sounds amazing. Good luck with Scampi's training, he sounds very clever, hats off to you for the good work you have done with him.
candy - hope pooch is recovering well.
Gers - Glad you have arrived safely. Enjoy the market, it will be a good distraction for you. I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Didn't do much yesterday as I was so tired. Took the bathroom cabinet to DDs and it will fit fine, she liked it too. Went looking for a towel rail for her to BHS as we had seen one she liked in Edinburgh. Sod's law there wasn't one in Glasgow so she'll look on line.
When I got home I had a little nanna nap and felt much better. I'm up and at em this morning, the fridge has been cleaned along with all the cupboard fronts in the kitchen. My bedding is in the WM but will have to hang about the house as it's very damp here.
Going for logs this morning and to Argoos to buy a new lighter suitcase - must get rid of some cases from the loft sometime, there are loads up there but all too heavy/big for cabin baggage.
Have a good Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry and bright here, we are forecasted a warm, sunny day. It rained yesterday evening so perfect growing weather, my pots are doing well and I picked chives and parsley last night for our tea.
Did manage to dry three loads of washing on the line yesterday, slight problem as loads of ladybirds around so everything needed a good shake, perhaps down to the mild winter?
Lazt day today, Archers omnibus although makes difficult listening at times, saw the actress who plays Helen on breakfast tv, least the storyline is raising the issue of domestic violence.
Have taken some beef stew out of the freezer so will have that with cawli rice and loads of veg.
Glad to hear from Gers thoughts are with you together with Judi down in Devon. Sending much love to Candlelight and your OH.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one.
Busy day OH has to take his monitor back today and then we are going on to see my quilting friend, the forecast is for sun today, so as soon as we get up the bed will be stripped and sheets etc in the washer, will get it out before we go.
Glad to hear that Gers arrived on the other side of the world ok. Sad to be going to a funeral, but enjoy the rest of you time there.
OH has not had any problems with his extraction, no bleeding, he can start washing his mouth out today. I did have a look at the socket and it had started to heal, so that's fine.
I was so tired yesterday I had a rather long Nana nap, OH had to wake me up for supper, was back in bed and asleep before 11pm.0 -
Morning all, thank you Dumpling for starting us off.
I have been up since 4 a.m. with Himself and feel exhausted. He has so much fluid in his lungs he can't lie down in bed, so has to sit up and of course doesn't rest very well.
We had a call from the surgery Friday morning, saying he had to go to the hospital for a chest xray straight away. Well it was very fraught(Sp)? because he can only walk about 5 paces and he is out of breath, and of course the only parking spaces seemed miles away from the entrance.
I managed to get him there eventually, I don't know how, and not a wheelchair to be found anywhere. I texted DD, who lives nearby telling her I didn't know how I would get him back and she came straight away.
When the radiographer did the xray he called a doctor in, and I heard him say, "all you can do is put urgent on it". He has an appointment at the surgery on Wednesday for an ECG and will pick up his blood forms.
Thank you all for your thoughts and good wishes, it means such a lot, and our family are being very kind and supportive as well. I will get him through this but I think it is going to take quite a while.
Judi I have been thinking of you, and I so wish your DH could be more supportive to you. Sending you a big hug.
Have a good day all
