Real 'neighbours from hell' do a lot worse than slam their doors and run extractor fans, those are both fairly normal things that people do in houses.

Pray do tell what a real neighbour from hell would do so I start counting my blessings.

Regarding the sale - best come clean with the noisy neighbours...

You have to declare it if you have made a complaint to the Council.

Mind you I don't think I could get away with it. They are very noisy
  • Sorry to jump in on this thread, but if I may ask, how would a potential purchaser find out if you've logged a complaint with the council? Surely they wouldn't just give them the information if they are not the original complainant?

Also, what if you had a past complaint, such as a boundary and you managed to resolve it via the council, would you still have to declare it?

Intimidation, physical abuse to either you or any family pets, racist abuse, criminal damage, false allegations, having a garden full of rubbish which will encourage pests etc etc. The possibilities are almost endless, and varied.

Not trying to make your concerns seem trivial (they obviously aren't to you), but there are much worse things that could be happening than slamming doors and a fan, so look at the positives!

I think solicitors get involved and do the checks. Don't quote me on it though.

You can make a freedom of information request about compaints lodged against the neighbouring addresses. I did the for the house I am buying, council oblidged. Names of complainers are redacted.

    How do part exchanges work?

Is not buying a new build and part exchanging or 100%, get round the neighbour issue?

    I see. Thank you.

I didn't go into gory details about what they have done but it's not as bad as it could be.

I guess I should have said noisy neighbours and not neighbours from hell.

So has anyone sold a house and ended up losing big money because of the noise and complaints?
