Calls to Channel Islands 01481/01534

Does anyone call the CI regularly.if so can you give me an idea of what it costs,is it dearer then ringing a normal 01/02 number.I notice that calls to the CI are not included in BT,s inclusive minute packages,or in Talk Talks.

Personally I would set up an account with 18866 and use that to phone CI.

I recently had to make numerous phone calls to Guernsey (hubby working there!) and we had long chats all for 2p each time!

Thanks very much i was aware of the 18866/1899 route.and the using of one of the 0844 providers 1p a min numbers. What i really wanted to know what carriers like BT,OneTel, Talk Talk, etc, etc, actually charged to call there so i could work out the potential savingsfor a friend of mine.

They are ordinary BT dialling codes, charged according to each provider's tariff.

Thanks Andy 88.Thats what i originally thought. Then i noticed the calls were not included in BT options,or in Talk Talk options. So i assumed the peak rate applies with BT 3p,and its 2.7p with Talk Talk, but i couldnt work out the offpeak rates as they dont print them because of options.

Then i noticed whilst looking at some other suppliers thatTelecom Plus charged to call the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man 7.9peak 4p offpeak,2p weekends so i thought other providers might be charging something similar.Hence my question.

I'm surprised. I'd hope that it's because they'd forgotten to update their tariffs since last year, rather than higher charging.

I think the only time there was any scope for confusion was that I believe I read that mobiles on the islands (which are separate networks) used to have ambiguous prefix codes ie maybe the same as the landlines.

you can use 1866 / 1899 / one tel to call landlines in channel islands and landlines in isle of man for the same rates as calls to mainland uk landlines.

calls from uk to mobiles will be charged at much higher rates and are charged as international calls.

weird considering both landlines and mobiles in these locations are +44 but im afraid this is the case.

if you make calls to the landlines using the above companies then you have nothing to worry about.

When I first joined One.Tel's StandardUK Talk plan last year, I e-mailed them and asked specifically whether calls to Channel Islands (01481/01534), Isle of Man (01624), Northern Ireland (028xx) and UK Payphones are free during the weekend. Their reply was that as long as the code begins with 01 or 02, the call would be free.

I know for a fact that this is not the case for BT and TalkTalk but I have not tried ringing any of these numbers using One.Tel.

Untrue - read the rest of the thread - they are totally ordinary BT numbers

If they're not free from BT at weekends, that is because you are comparing different tariff packages

For BT Together Option 1, please look at:

    http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/current/docs/Cust_Opts_Res.boo/31853.htm

For BT Together Option 2, please look at:

    http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/current/docs/Cust_Opts_Res.boo/32093.htm

For BT Together Option 3, please look at:

    http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/current/docs/Cust_Opts_Res.boo/32103.htm

Table 1b (middle of the page) gives prices for calls to Channel Islands and you can see that they are not free at any time whichever BT Together Option you have.

Talk Talk state that free calls exclude calls to non-geographic numbers (0870 and 0845) Jersey and Guernsey.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
