If it all ends up happening....maybe your parents could extend too, if it is not too pricey....bigger house and garden views back.
  • UPDATE!

We wrote to the council stating all the objections. I wrote an Information Leafet that we handed to the neighbours at the other side and the back of the property and we were able to speak to everyone. The rented property on the other side had read the letter from the council and knew the landlord and hadn't realised the impact if would have. One property at the back who had a beautiful garden also wrote and objected and the other property wasn't interested.

The planning officer can round (unannounced) spoke to my parents and took some measurements. They also went to the property on the other side, but said they wouldn't be speaking to the properties at the back as they would not be affected.

Decicion was REFUSED!!! :):) This is the wording from the refusal notice.

The proposed development would injuriously affect the amenities of the adjoining
properties by reason of loss of light, loss of outlook, overshadowing and visual
intrusion. The proposal would thereby be contrary to Policy(ies) LP1 and H4 of the
Luton Local Plan and and contrary to the aims and objectives of the NPPF

So happy for my parents. I realise he can build up to 3 metres without planning consent, so we will have to see what happens.

Thanks so much to everyone who contributed and gave me ideas and information.

  • It says he has be appeal to the Secretary of State if he wants to appeal.
