since i get a lot of sales calls, i have decided to have a caller ID feature on my home phone, but i called virginmedia and they told me i had to pay an extra £1.50 each month for the feature and that it is not yet available in my area (southwark)??
how much do you pay for it? and do you know any other way to get the caller ID on my phone...
thanks

Ive got caller ID free with TalkTalk. Unless your service provider enables it there is no way of passing the calling number to you.0

I've also got free caller display from Talk Talk.
I called the customer options team and explained that BT had a free caller display service as part of the BT Privacy and they said no problem we will give you it free of charge as well!
Still can't fault Talk Talk.. Excellent Service so far!!0 -
So, you just called up TalkTalk and asked for Caller ID and they said "we'll give it to you for free" when you explained about BT Privacy?
Holy smoke! Oh wait, I'd have to go and buy a caller display unit as well, wouldn't I?
It'd be cool - I could then see who's calling and then ignore calls from a certain person that I don't want to talk to...

When I was VoIP only Caller ID cost me nothing as all these services such as Caller ID, CWID, Call Waiting, 3-Way Calling, Anonymous Caller Reject, Call Transfer etc are part of VoIP.
However as Virgin Media offered me a deal I couldn't refuse - in reality getting the phone line with evening and weekend call package free on top of discounted TV service - I took up that offer. However I forgot all about having to pay for Caller Display, so I called them back up and got Virgin to give me caller display for free too. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I successfully got caller ID for free from TalkTalk. They didn't want to do it at first, but then I mentioned seeing another customer's post on here, and they said "OK, fair enough, you can have it".
It helps that I've got a cordless phone in my house...0 -

I don't think they like people mentioning sites like this, it puts them on the defensive and rarely gets what you are after, makes them more likely not to offer it to others too. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... If you have a VOIP number use this for incoming calls and the CLID will be free.
Call virgin media and ask if they will give you it for free otherwise you will use voip for incoming calls. Virgin make money from incoming calls from termination fees.baldly going on...0 -

You also get loads of other services free with VoIP too, such as 3-way calling, anonymous caller reject, call waiting. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Caller ID is often not available on most of the ex-NTL's old phone exchanges and is unlikely to be added. I believe ex-Blueyonder areas did offer caller-ID.0
