If the garage in question performs MOT's book it in for an MOT and you can drive it down there legally without taxing it ;)

Doesn't resolve the insurance issue - can't drive it legally anywhere uninsured!

I assumed as the OP only asked about tax as he planned to insure it, drive it to the garage, then cancel the coverage

Add the cost of the MOT and that could be more than the months tax?

Doesnt get the MOT done, DVLA spot the car on the road and send them a fine for having an untaxed vehicle on the road and the OPs defence of an MOT wont wash because they didnt get one.

Looks like everyone missed he's taking it to WBAC, and not a garage, so the MOT thing won't work.

Quick update, and many thanks for your suggestions. Fortunately, I found another car buying company (Southern Car Buyers) who will come to collect AND quoted a slightly higher price than wbac. Phew, as was about to pay the yearly road tax by DD and get temporary insurance. Thanks again
