Temporary road tax/insurance

I'm selling off an old vehicle directly to the garage. Its been SORN for a while and uninsured. I literally need to make a 2 mile drive to make the sale.

Is there anyway I can buy short term road tax, or is the only way to buy a 6 monther and get reimbursed after I cancel it?

Ask the garage to collect, even if they charge you it will probably be cheaper and if they want your business I would expect them to do it foc unless you live a long way away.

If you set up a direct debit to pay for it monthly, then in theory it should only cost you 1/12th of the annual fee. No reimbursement needed.

No. But the garage should be able to collect it using trade plates.

Good point but then I'd still be paying a months road tax for a days use but that looks like the only option.

If I buy a 6 monther, do the DVLA refund me down to the exact number of days?

I'm actually taking it to webuyanycar, I dont think they collect :/

No, you only get reimbursed for complete calendar months.

You will have to pay a full month even if you only go on the road an hour!

Wont it will cost you more for the 6 months tax than getting 12 months tax and paying monthly? You will pay 1 months tax at the dearer 6 month rate instead of 1 months tax at the cheaper 12 month rate?

Any garage buying a car within such a short distance should have no issues collecting it and have the correct cover.

Taking it to we buy any car may get you less than their initial valuation. Whats the car worth? How much will the insurance be for a single day?

Paying for 12 months is cheaper than 6 I'm terms of refund, with 6 you pay extra 10% not included in refund.
