Beware differences in Asda currency rates!!

Ok, so I'm new on the site and forums - so apologies if this has been raised before, but I've searched and can't see owt!
I went to an Asda store and bought some Euros yesterday. When I got home my wife said she had checked the website and the online rate appeared to be better than the store. I rang the 0800 Asda Travel Money line and the operative explained that the rate is better if you ring them or order online.
Since I can then pick the money up at the store, albeit a day or two later, how on earth can they justify the difference? I could have stood in front of the kiosk and ordered the money and then re-appeared the next day and picked it up!! How ridiculous!
(FYI I would have got an extra 10 euros on 500 - in real money that's a couple of grand beers!)
PS. although they make a reference to differences in the rates on the website they don't appear explain that it is cheaper to order the currency.

Thomas Cook (and no doubt many others) are exactly the same. There is one rate if you order online for home delivery or inshore pickup and a different rate if you just pop into the store to purchase
Neither Asda or Thomas Cook give any indication that the same rates would be available if you do not pre-order
It does sound like you did not check the website first went and purchased and then found that you could have got a better deal by pre-ordering. It is usually best to do the homework first...how do you know you were getting a good rate from Asda compared to elsewhere?0 -
I actually work for them ( YES I AM ADMITTING IT ) I don't like the way its done as I must get a dozen people in everyday saying its higher on the internet blah blah blah , its daft as you can stand there and order it and then pick it up 5mins later if they have it in stock
internet rate for EUR for example is 2c better than instore"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0 -

How long does it take to serve a customer who has ordered online vs a customer who does the whole process instore?0
