DWP EO Jobs 2016

On a slightly different note, how do people enjoy the actual work. I am curious if I will like it. There was a post on here last year about someone who was working there I'm sure and they were really unhappy, stressed....from memory it was due to the people coming in giving them hassle and management not providing support. I don't know how their story panned out.
Also, are these jobs permanent, but other jobs have been long term 18 month contracts? How do these things tend to pan out. Is it all very target based (ie getting people off benefits)?
I think these are permanent jobs! Having been a jobseeker recently they don't seem to help get you off benefits as such... But one work coach I met has gone above and beyond to provide me with help with jobs... So i guess it comes down to the actual individual.0 -
There's a few EO jobs going at the moment. Applicants have started receiving Interview information. Northumberland- Work Coach had some tech issues. Some depts drag their heals, dont stress positive you'll all hear soon. Good Luck0

Maybe I'm missing something.
You get coached by a work coach to do the job of.... a work coach.
Presumably you'll then coach others to do the job of work coach.
Have the DWP really turned into one giant Ponzi scheme?0 -

Yes you are missing something. DWP don't have enough Work Coaches at present. These are the people who work with claimants to help them get back into employment. The additional Work Coaches, once trained, (ie 2 weeks after they start if other training these days is anything to go by) won't be there to train more Work Coaches.0 -

You don't get coached by a work coach you're given help and support with jobs and application forms by a work coach! Very helpful if you feel you're at a deadend when applying for work!!
I wonder if when asked about preferred locations to work, you can put down a district you didn't apply to??0 -

Probably not, recruitment is usually done on a district by district basis so you would have to apply separately (but also gives you two opportunities for success!). Its pretty much unheard of for recruitment to be managed at a national/regional level.
I know it seems a frustratingly slow process but to be clear DWP doesn't employee specific recruiters people have to do it alongside there day job which explains why there are such delays between aspects of the process. As someone who has undertaken internal recruitment I can't begin to imagine what a nightmare it is to run an external campaign."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

.
You only get one Interview more than one district applied for0 -
I just got an interview through after being pointed towards the job by the job centre. What they didn't tell me was the first interview is at a place 65 miles from home. As my local is showing as 'very limited' posts available, I don't know whether to go.0

Congrats with the interview!! What makes you not want to go to the interview?? The travel and distance? Or that you maybe placed to work at that job centre??0 -
No, you get a form to fill in with where you want to work. Just worried I'll do a 130 mile round trip for a first interview, then maybe a second, and after all that expense find there was only one job in my local office and I didn't get it.
There's only one in this region I can do, though I also applied to another where I can reach two.
