Hey all newbie here!!!
So I recently applied for the EO jobs that came out a couple months ago! Its now gone silent and I've been trawling the internet for information, guidance... Anything really and came across a thread on her about the same jobs 4 years ago!!
Thought I'd give this website a try... Hopefully there are people in the same position as me who can offer some help or news they've heard!!
Hopefully there are still some posters from the last thread (that I got totally addicted to and have read nearly all 358 pages
:rotfl:) that can let me know how the job was or is going!!
Thanks xxx

I was on that previous thread, I got as far as being offered an interview but by then I'd found a better paying job (which I'm still in) so declined it. As I recall it took a long time for things to happen and the whole process was rather shambolic, I'd like to hope it's better this time but I wouldn't hold my breath. Good luck!0

I'm not sure if it's the same one I applied for (work coach), perhaps they're nationwide when they advertise. I applied about a month ago, did the test right away (and from my login and going onto the feedback tab it appears I've passed, it tells me I 'have scored better than xx% of people who have sat the test' or something along those lines. I've not heard anything else though. Deadline was recently extended, think it might be closed now though.
I know someone who started last year for the other area, the sickness benefit area I think. I think it took a while. Then when she heard she was successful she was told it was a start date 'within 6 months' or something like that but then heard fairly quickly and got a start date that was a bit too soon but they let her put it back a few days. That was an 18 month contract job though. I think the work coach ones are permanent. Wonder why the difference.0 -

From personal experience, and from talking to others who joined more recently than myself, things haven't improved.
One person I worked with got a call from HR asking why she hadn't turned up on the date she was supposed to. She explained that she hadn't turned up because she received a letter telling her she hadn't got the job. She was told the wrong letter must have been sent, and she started the following week.
The daughter of one existing employee received a letter telling her she had been successful and would get a letter with a start date within a week. When the letter arrived it said she hadn't actually been offered a job but would be kept on a waiting list for up to 12 months.
I also received a phone call asking me to start on a date I had previously advised them I would be unavailable due to a holiday which had already been booked and paid for. I was told I would be sent a letter with a new start date. That never arrived. I called them and they said a letter had been sent a couple of days previous, but when it arrived it was postmarked the day after I called them.
DWP HR take incompetence to a whole new level.0 -
I applied for this too, after my work coach suggested it; I suspect at least every other jobseeker has been asked to apply for it. :hmm:0

Yeah its the work coach job... I was unaware they extended the closing date but from speaking to my work coach he said there were nearly 200+ vacancies going!!
I passed the test but that was like 18th March and nothing since...
From what i can remember from the other pist the wait was horrendous and i'm hoping its not that long!!0 -
i applied for this last year in internal promotion, had interview then told I had passed, only 24 hours later an email to say sorry but no you had not.Turns out somebody marking the work, had add scores together and then average it out, when you have to have a 4 in every box!
I have colleagues who are leaving to go to JC as work coach from this, and they are going at end of May0 -

So did you hear from them on 18th March, or sit the test on 18th March? I thought you were talking about something you applied for a couple of months ago. Sorry, but confused. I was talking to someone else who said they didn't know if they had passed or not, again confusing as I thought it shows up on your profile immediately. Unless I'm mistaken.
I've not had any emails or anything yet, but I think it only closed last week.0 -

Sorry yeah i applied for the post on the 18th and did the sift test a couple days later as you had to do it by 22.03.16 I received that response straight away but nothing since!0 -
Hi,
I just thought I would share my experience with regards to the EO vacancies. I am currently employed as an AO and have been since the beginning of last year.
In September last year a large number of internal vacancies were posted for the position of EO. I applied and attended an interview early November. At the beginning of December I was informed I had been successful at interview and would be placed onto a reserve list until a post became available. By mid December I had been offered a post and was told to expect to start my new role by mid January 2016.
I was actually only given a start date in the middle of February and am due to start the new role in the next few weeks.
As previous posters have mentioned it does seem to be a slow process and baring in mind my recruitment process was also internal. I think because there are so many vacancies it is taking a lot longer than expected.
It will have taken around 5 months in total for me, from being offered the role to taking up the position. I have colleagues who have also been in the same position as my self, with similar timescales.
Just thought I would let you know

On a slightly different note, how do people enjoy the actual work. I am curious if I will like it. There was a post on here last year about someone who was working there I'm sure and they were really unhappy, stressed....from memory it was due to the people coming in giving them hassle and management not providing support. I don't know how their story panned out.
Also, are these jobs permanent, but other jobs have been long term 18 month contracts? How do these things tend to pan out. Is it all very target based (ie getting people off benefits)?0
