Send Free Text Message to UK Mobile?

What is the best service to send free text messages using a computer to a UK mobile?

I tried the service afreesms.com by sending a text message to my phone, but I never received the text message. I ensured that I entered the phone number correctly also.

Give the link a try not used it myself so don't know anything about them.

I tried that service about 10 minutes ago.

It wouldn't send the text message. It displayed an error about it can't be used with pop-up or banner blocking software. Even though I used it in Firefox and im not even using ad blocking software.

I don't know why these free text messaging services don't send a message. I also tried mfreesms.com it says the message has been sent, but I never received the text message.

cbfsms closed down on 2 October 2016. I'm looking for a replacement. Any suggestions?

It costs them a small amount of money to send each text message. This can be recovered by serving ads on the webpage, for which they get paid. Margins are so tight that most services do not survive very long.

Yes its mentioned in the MSE article i posted a link to . Top up is £5.
