Hi
Made the fatal error of forgetting a £2.38 balance. Struggling to see what will happen now, will I get a mortgage ever again.
Perfect record to date.
Any help or advice please.
Thanks

i don't think you will get a mortgage ever, your credit score will be ruined.0

Yes, you are not far off the mark - but never say never!
The fact is this trivial oversight, and they don't come much more trivial than this, may have an effect on your ability to obtain credit, especially a mortgage. A good payment record counts for nothing. Creditors are much more interested in your mistakes. And that's especially the case with mortgage providers.0 -
It will drop off your report after a few months; it's not a default. Of course it wont stop you ever getting a mortgage, but you might want to check your credit file to make sure it's no longer showing before you apply. Shame on Gingerbob and Johnny, don't be so dramatic!0

It certainly can slaughter your credit rating!
Similar thing happened to me. Overlooked a £2 debt to a catalogue company for 3 months then all of a sudden I had two credit cards closed (they were empty waiting for new BT deals to come along) and had a lucrative money transfer offer on another pulled without notice which I only discovered when I tried to make the transfer only to find all transfer facilities had been removed from my account.
This was a few months ago now and my rating is still poor, despite having cleared the debt and had the defaults removed from my otherwise squeaky clean credit file. I've also been turned down for a new credit card, the first time ever.0 -
I assume you have paid the debt now?
Whilst a missed payment will be regarded as a negative on your credit history. Lenders are not usually too harsh on just one late payment as long as you rectify the mistake promptly.0 -
At the very least set up a direct debit to pay the minimum balance every month. Not the amount that matters. It's the principle. As this reflects on you as a potential borrower.0

Two missed payments over time is not a big deal. Have you asked the lender if they would remove the late markers? Don't ask don't get, the amount is so trivial they may be flexible.0

This isnt true. It will show as a missed payment on your credit history for 6 years. However lenders view the odd missed payment as not the most serious thing ever. I got a mortgage with one that was 18 months old on mine without difficulty.
SET UP A DIRECT DEBIT!!!£1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000

In the first instance rather than making a mountain out of a mole hill.
It might be worth checking your credit file to see if the missed payments have even been recorded.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
