Just to add that CEL do not use POFA required wording in the NTK anyway so the date is mere detail. What I mean is, no need to pore over the date sent and wonder if they've failed the POFA deadline (you are right, BTW) when they always fail the POFA wording anyway.

The keeper is not liable for a CEL charge, it is that simple. Only trouble is, POPLA have been stupid enough not to understand keeper liability recently so we do have to spell out 'no keeper liability' and even 'no driver liability' now to POPLA to hope they understand there can be neither, in a case where the driver is not identified.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Just thought I would update as everyone on here was so helpful. Thank you.

I emailed the CEO of the hotel group and wrote a letter to the hotel manager. Both have replied to me and apologised plus stated they will instruct CEL to cancel the charge. So great news and definitely a lesson for everyone that the first step should be contact the establishment that owns the car park.

I am actually quite impressed with the response from Holiday Inns. Fast and sincere. Good stuff.

Make sure you get written confirmation from CEL that it has been cancelled.
