Santander Retailer Offers

I selected an Emirates from Santander's list and booked a flight on Saturday prior to the expiry date of the deal (Monday). I could technically have booked sooner but I wanted to be with my friend at the time of the booking so that he could double check everything and that was the best time for us.
I used my Santander debit card and the funds were earmarked immediately but, unsurprisingly, the debit has only hit the account today (one day after expiry).
I couldn't find anything in the T&Cs and have emailed Santander to ask them whether the cashback will be paid but in the meantime wondered whether anyone else had experienced similar. It's £23.50 each so quite handy but not exactly life changing.

Thank you for your email regarding the My Offers section of your online banking facility.
I can confirm that if your payment was made before or on the date of offer expiry, you will still be eligible to receive cashback.
Please be aware that cashback is credited at the end of the following month from which the transaction was made, and therefore cashback for this transaction will be credited on 30/04/2016

Hmmmmmm
I don't think that's a particularly helpful reply!
What determins the date your payment was 'made'?
Was it when you booked the flight? If so, you'll qualify:)
Was it when payment was debited? If so, you won't qualify:(
Hope its the former, please update us.0 -
From the tone of the message I think I will receive the cashback but it isn't completely clear. I shall update this thread in May.
If I don't get it I shall complain as I booked within the timescale.0 -
I've used Santander Retailer Offers before (even on the date of expiry) and they've honoured them the next month, no problem (the same goes with Lloyds Bank Everyday Offers).
In fact I shopped at Waitrose and Morrison's last week; the next day I offers at those particular retailers (and selected them).
By the time the transactions posted to my account they'd used those purchases therefore redeeming my offers. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I've also selected Waitrose after my spend and still got the cashback and that was swaying me towards my Emirates purchase being valid but I wanted to double check.
I've never seen Morrisons offers which is a shame as that's my usual supermarket. Perhaps I need to stop using my 123 credit card in there for a while to push them towards offering me something.0 -
That's fair enough (especially as it'll be a decent amount of cashback?)
The Morrison's offer only appears every few months; the last time was December. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

That's what I did for Morrisons. I started using a different card and this month I have been offered 10% cashback.

I can confirm that the cashback is now showing as earned within the 'retail offers' of the website so I will receive it whenever they're due to credit me (at the end of this month, I think).0

Thanks for reporting back.
I've never used Santander Retailer offers but I regularly (well at least once a year) book Emirates flights to HK. I usually use a cashback credit card.
Can I ask if they are random? Do they change regularly? I rarely use my Santander debit card for purchases but could be persuaded.
I guess I could register and see what happens:o0 -

Sometimes they are random (retailers I've never heard of/wouldn't use personally) and sometimes they are for retailers I frequently use (Morrison's/Waitrose).It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history.
