Ocado sent me a free meal planner chart that is magnetic and sticks on the side of the fridge-freezer, along with a magnetic pen. Plenty of room for meal plans and shopping lists on there and it does wipe clean after use.

I don't actually use it but DGD age 6 likes to plan my meals now and again!

Genius! I have a big flexible magnetic whiteboard day planner type thing with a shopping list on it for the fridge. It would never have occurred to me to take a photo of the list!

I have a pad of post-it notes which my list is written on, it is kept in the pocket of the calendar. anyone can add things if they use the last of it. The post-it then gets stuck to the handle of the shopping trolley. My fridge is built in so can't write on it without permanent damage!

I don't make any lists, just remember what I want. If I forget something I say, tough, manage without it. A child's chalk board would do the job, probably find one in a £1 shop or The Works, or a toy shop. Even better, look for an old slate tile, scrub it clean, drill two holes and hang it with a bit of string. Only need to buy the chalk.

My sole grouch with a photo is I can't tick things off!

However, I may require a phone snap of fridge before accepting we must buy more butter as my husband is apt to send lists from memory/routine rather than actually looking into the back of the shelves.

Mum had a wax pencil & wrote on window glass (the extension left a window & glass & sill to hold a pencil in place & handy, so she used it.)

I opted for a chalk board in the end. Just need to find some chalk now, lol.

I can't rely on me remembering everything. If I go shopping without a list I come back with impulse buys and without a lot of things that I actually need :o

We were out of stock powder last week, but did I remember it when I was out and about shopping.. no. It's something I use quite a lot in cooking. We did try and improvise with salt, pepper and even marmite! But it's good to have it back in again.

My mother used to keep a pencil in a kitchen cupboard and write on the inside of the door when she ran out of something. (Which was laminate like you describe) I do the same thing in the bathroom cabinet now, it's easily rubbed off with a handy facecloth or damp towel.
My kitchen cupboards are wood veneer, rather than white now so I keep a pad with a magnetic back on my fridge. Just tear the page off and take shopping with you. I know, not very hi tech :(

Not quite the same but when I put something in the oven I write the time on the wall tiles with a felt pen. It rubs off with a damp cloth. Suppose you could write shopping lists in the same way. jac.xx
