Need a sim for low usage that doesn't have a time limit / expiry

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a sim which I can put in my tablet and use when I need the internet without my normal wireless access points. 95% of the time the tablet is using Wi-Fi but there have been times where a sim would have been really helpful.

I would like to buy a pre paid sim that comes with an allowance which has a very long expiry date or the 321 sim that Three offers but I'm not sure how long it'll be before the sim is cancelled due to lack of use. If it's something like 6 months that won't be an issue.

Advice would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

Most providers, including '3', don't allow using normal SIMs in tablets. Generally, for a tablet you need a special data-only (mobile broadband) SIM.
All PAYG SIMs can be disconnected if not used for chargeable activity for a long time. For the majority of providers it's 180 days.

Three do a data only sim with 12gb of data valid for 12 months for £30, as far as i know thats the cheapest especialy when coupled with the long expiry time - easiest way to pick one up is in store, walk in pay £30 get sim go.

12gb is way too much for this purpose.
I don't even think that I would use 1gb over the year.

I had a brain fart when I said it was a tablet, I mean to say phablet (Smart Ultra 6).

For Three and phablets see: Phablets - mobile phone issue

Don't know if it was an isolated issue.

I don't think it would be an issue as the Smart Ultra 6 is a 5.5 inch phone.

I have a tablet PC running Windows 8 with no phone function. A normal Three sim will not work in it, but all others I have tried do, ie Delight, Lebara, EE, GiffGaff. Delight is probably cheapest for occasional use.

I have a Three 321 sim in my unlocked phone and put £10 on it maybe 6 months or even a year ago and it still works but maybe make a phone call and or check your balance every 3 months to keep the sim registered

    Checking balance doesn't count.
