Is that a decent quote for minor servicing?

Have you ever seen an MOT tester stand under the car with a torch? Then the wheels move?

As the tester checks the suspension he simply shines the torch at the brakes and you can easily see them.

considerig the pads invovled that's a decent price. Having said that it all depends on the condition of your pads. They will most likely just replace the ones that are less than 5mm or thereabouts and they might not change any.

Make sure they changed all 8 (or all 4 in the case of front brake only ultracompact cars)

The brake pads were mentioned during the MOT test hence why I wanted to get them done. Thanks so much everyone for your help.

i had advisory on pads on a MOT, drove about 4k miles the entire year and then took the car for an MOT for the following year on the same pads and disks and it did not get any advisory.

I did take the car to the mechanic after the former MOT and he said I've got lots more life left in them.

I get the feeling that sometimes MOT testers will just throw in an advisry

Minor service is usually oil/oil filter, top up the washer fluid and a few checks.

That's not a minor service, if decent quality parts are used then it's a good price.

Like a Yaris, for example? Hmm. Fishy.
