Thunderbird & Junk Emails

Been using Thunderbird for quite a while now.
It seems to classify lots of emails as junk no matter what I do.
I have tried everything I can think of to try to get certain email directly into my inbox but they seem to go into my junk box.
I have ticked the 'training' box etc etc
Anybody got any ideas ??
P.S.
Have set up message filters up BUT the messages still go into junk and then I have to run filters on that folder.
The messages then get moved to my inbox.

That's quite strange, as all of the junk emails I receive in Thunderbird stay in my Inbox, flagged as Junk, and then I just run the "Delete mail marked as junk" tool.

    Long story short
I use TB - I have several filters set to 'ignore thread' on several mail lists that my wife subscribes to :p

Sadly, and only occasionally, these messages sneak through unannounced!

Who's your underlying email provider? If its Gmail (for example) it has already identified junk; other providers will have done the same.

    You misunderstood my post.
Thunderbird is classifying emails as junk that are NOT junk.
i.e the emails go into the junk mail folder no matter what I do.

You could try resetting the junk training data.

In the options dialogue, hit the "security" tab, and the "junk" sub-tab, and click the "Reset Training Data" button.

Need you to answer grumpcrab's question.

Who is the email account with? The email provider will override your Thunderbird settings.

I have an old AOL account where i have it set to only allow certain email address and send everything else to the SPAM folder. A few family members have changed their email address and they all goto the SPAM folder because im too lazy to update it.

Thunderbird cannot override that setting. If your email provider thinks all yahoo email is SPAM then all yahoo will goto that folder no matter what you set.

So what you guys are saying is that it is outlook.com that is classifying the emails as junk before thunderbird gets them.
So its outlook.com putting them in the thunderbird junk mail folder ???
So its the outlook.com junk mail setting that need altering ??
    Or am I misunderstanding........
    Thanks for you help.
