This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all! Happy Easter Monday. It is snowing here in the Midlands, after raining hard all night. really heavy rain, rattling the windows, that was predicted by the weather app on my tablet but the snow is a surprise. I am glad to be at home, with nothing special to do, no need to go out and get wet and cold.
Still sniffling and snuffling, Beechams to the ready.
Last night's dinner was roast lamb, lots of veg, roasties, roast parsnips (which I don't eat) and Yorkshires. I ate a bit but gave up. There is, purposely, a lot of leftover veg for bubble and squeak tomorrow. I have chicken marinading for a biriani tonight, with lots of fresh coriander and mint.
Right, I must go and watch the snow!I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all. AOD will you keep the snow down there please, we don't want any more thank you! We currently have rain but seem to have escaped the gales that were promised. Nothing planned for today so whatever it does it doesn't matter!
We had a lovely lunch yesterday at DS's. GF had done both beef and lamb, with lots of veg, roasties, Yorkshires etc, followed by apple pie and custard. Everything was lovely and much enjoyed. We finally left at 6.30, clutching a Thorntons egg and chocolates. So that'll keep me happy for the day!!
I have some chicken defrosting to make a curry at some point today. Still to decide whether it will be lunchtime or tonight.
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to those wanting/needing them. AOD get well soon. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
AOD - my goodness, snow at Easter! Hope it doesn't lie.
Still nothing from Melbourne though I expect things to start 'moving along' this week. Don't know if the postmortem has taken place yet or not, the Aussie system is a mystery to me.
My friends were adventurous yesterday without me. I spent all day at home and went to bed early and now feeling much better. When I woke this morning the moon was still visible in the sky.
The weather is forecast to be dry today so I'm sure we'll be out for a while. Perhaps my friends will leave today, don't know.
The visitors meant I slipped on BSD (with horrid results) so I'll be picking that back up again today and get back on track.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely Easter Monday.0 -
Hi everyone,
I was woken at 6.00 by DH's (unnecessary) alarm and couldn't get back to sleep.
We managed a reasonable walk yesterday, apart from a 15 minute downpour, luckily we'd put on waterproofs just as it started. We're now at DH's sister's, just for the day, he's going to help her clear the loft.
I've read the blood sugar diet book and am going to begin next Monday, after we go home. We have a meal booked at a very posh restaurant on Saturday, courtesy of DD and her DH. It's a tasting menu so there's no point going in with a list of things I don't want to eat. DH says he'll do the diet with me although I've told him he doesn't have to so long as he's supportive. Mum had type 2 diabetes and I really don't want to go down that route if I can help it.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning everyone,
Snoozer - another numpty here who forgot to switch off her normal Monday morning alarm
Have had an awful night as well, the wind was rattling the windows and battering the house, heavy rain too but no snow thankfully AOD.
Thank goodness yesterday was such a restful day, took the girls for a couple of nice walks and popped over to see Bill. Have ordered him a new supplement which is meant to help with joints etc, different oils etc + turmeric, should be here in a couple of days.
Am doing a big roast today as DSS's are coming over, hopefully the weather will ease up a bit so we can go for a walk, need some exercise with all the choc consumed over last couple of days. All this talk of diets has inspired me to cut down on my calories and carbs, won't hurt me to lose a stone or so and can only help Bill to have less weight on his back
Have a good day all, take care in the bad weather, stay snug and warm.0 -

Hester Is that the blanket with colourful squares and a black border? I love itI can't crochet with black yarn, I can't see it properly. I've tried using a very bright light but the stitches all seem to merge into one as I'm looking at them and I can't work out where to put the hook next, lol. I want to make a penguin but can't, maybe I should make a bright blue one

ancientofdays Snow! I'm jealousHope you feel better soon x
Scampi had great fun at the park yesterday, he was jumping all over the grass like a little lambA friend dropped off some venison bones the other day, he's merrily munching his way through those.
Interesting weather yesterday – very breezy then sun, rain, hail, sun, a double rainbow then more wind and rain. At one point there was blue sky and sun in the back garden and black clouds with a bit of rain out the front.
It's still raining now and the wind is howling. The washing will have to be hung indoors then I'll do my usual daily job of hoovering up the dog hairs. Nothing else is planned except food and DVDs

Morning All
I'm back from my travels, glad I came home last night and didn't stay at DDs, means I can laze about all day!
The weather was interesting yesterday, we went for a walk with my friends dogs (a rottweiler that is as soft and stupid as mud and a funny little cross thing, think whippet and staffy, that hates all other dogs!) brilliant sunshine one minute and hail and gale force winds the next - true Yorkshire weather! Lovely home cooked sunday dinner then home.
I've decided not to have anything to do with evil cousin any more, the way she treats her mum is dreadful.
Anyway, today will be lazing around but must do some shopping, there are 4 eggs and 2 courgettes in the fridge! Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Very windy here and expected to get worse in a few hours.
Hugs Gers, sorry things are still not clear.
The fish have been fed and hubby & I are on our 2nd cuppa.
Yes Tru, the black wasn't easy to work with but I don't think anything else would have worked as well.
I have yarn spread all over the sofa as I try to choose the colours for the next blanket.
We have roast lamb today, I forgot to defrost it yesterday so I did smothered chicken for hubby and did my chicken with tomatoes and olives.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Hi,
Happy Easter Monday if you celebrate.
Not posted for a while and not even read the last few days, been having a torrid time with various fluey bugs, not me touch wood.DGS has been ill for 2 weeks and ended up in hospital at one point. He seems to have inherited asthma from DS2 and his oxygen levels went very low, then on Tues DS & I took him back to his docs as his temp was high.He couldnt pinpoint anything as such and thought it was him getting over the asthma attack, but he didnt improve, his mum took him again last Thursday and he has tonsilitis poor little chap.DS2 has had a chest infection and sinusitis and been off work for a week, and DH has just said his throat's sore ....
Apart from that we've had a lovely time catching up with friends etc,and we had 4 of them round for a meal on Saturday.cue much tidying- the tidiest we've been since Christmas day.We also got another leather suite off the bay of E and picked it up on Friday from Liverpool, thats both rooms sorted now from the auction site + really pleased with both of them, knowing how much they cost new ,hardly a mark on them and about 1/4 of the price.Mind you trying to get the latest one through a cottage front door was a bit of a struggle :rotfl:A bit of leather cleaner and it looks great.DH is on about recovering our leather dining chairs,as some of them are very split and marked. My DB has a mate who does it so might get a price, otherwise it could be a DIY job.
Have to call at DB2s today with E eggs off my other DB,we called on them yesterday and SIL asked if we'd take them as we live close by.
Bought a reduced turkey on Sat but froze it as I already had a gammon defrosting for today, but first I need to take lyla out.Its not raining but looks windy and cold.
Have a good day everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
