I would describe it as more as judgement than skill, the main reason that I came down to London (from Newcastle) in 1990 was that London properties were so cheap, and the yield was so high, that you could buy and rent, and cover the costs in year 1.

Chuck - from your other posts you have said you are a chartered surveyor. perhaps the fact that you were a specialist in valuing properties helped to determine value in property invesments in london? so i guess you could say you were lucky on your invesments as you were a surveyor by profession, and if you chose another route in your profession you probably wouldnt have invested?

was the same not true in newcastle in 1990?

No! Rental voids were much more common.

I'm not saying that you are lying, again you seem confused about what has been stated. When did I say that you lied?

maybe i assumed quickly so my mistake but what makes you think theres not somethign quite right about me? i can only assume its about the genuinity of my posts given all you can see from me is posts on this forum and nothing else about me.

I have always been wary of you, mwpt also became suspicious of you, and now Jack also has, both these posters are ones that I tend to respect their opinion (not necessarily agree with, but in this instance I think that they are onto something).

well i wonder why all of you would be wary of me. would be at least good to know more about why that is.

I'm a chartered quantity surveyor, not a general practice surveyor, but personally I think that anyone with common sense can value property after they have been looking to buy for a while. I know that I can.

You can't call something total b*llocks and then admit it's somewhat true.

I think it's fair to say our early experiences combined with our DNA essentially make us who we are and I think it's fair also to say that is more down to chance than anything else.

    What I said was:
With respect, that is total b*llocks, we all have the opportunity to control our own destiny. But obviously luck plays some part in all our lives, but very rarely is it the whole story.

And I stand by it, luck only plays a part, but nevertheless we are all in control of our own destiny.

    I'll tell you.

You'd never conversed with Chuck before & you where immediately hostile. You asked why he was on here (simply because he has amassed some wealth). Then in the next post you're boasting about your own wealth. Why would you be asking someone about there posting habits based on their wealth then post about your own wealth.
given my age (early 30s, buying a flat in highgate worth 600k and have net worth of around 700k]
Then there is the posts about having children and not having children.

Plus your grammar is poor for someone earning 100k.... mine isn't great but then I'm only a middling civil servant.

Chance plays and determines the biggest part in our life stories

Just think back on your life there must have been multiple points in your life road where if you took decision x instead of y you would be in a completely different place. Or even things that happened to you with no decision on your part.

Like I said, luck plays some part, but ultimately it is how you deal with the ups and downs that life deals you, but that is where your luck ends, and your true talent shines (or doesn't) and that decides how you do in life. I don't buy into it for one minute, that where you end up in life, just depends on luck.

i suggest you do some proper research instead of selecting and making up things,

i have conversed with chuck before towards the end of last year when he advised me to keep my flat when i was thinking about selling - that was the first time i saw a post fro chuck.

i never boasted about my wealth. chuck asked me if i was poor and therefore didnt have anything better to do given i cant afford it. i simply answered his questions.

i dont care if my grammer isn't 100% in ths forum. its not a english grammer test. its just a forum. why does earning 100k got to do with grammer?

i sugest you check your facts before making silly accusations.
