Ah, OK, thanks :) It seems that in order to find a way of making veggies palatable for me, i need to keep to fresh (and therefore in season).
I'm going to Google seasonal veggies.

I have heard of minted peas, which i think i might like because i like mint. But not sure how cooked the peas need to be.

Frozen peas are great and they really do taste fresh. Try "petit pois" they are tiny and gorgeous. I just defrost them and eat them as they are! But if you are cooking them, cook for the shortest time, then add mint and a bit of butter.

    edit, Pollyanna, our posts crossed!

I like kale salad - steam the kale until tender, then toss in vinaigrette, add toasted pine nuts and croutons and whatever other salady bits you want. Really gorgeous either warm or cold.

Sprouts or broccoli are good steamed then fried off in a teeny bit of butter with a few bacon bits.

Cabbage or kale is good shredded, steamed and mashed in with potatoes, sliced spring onions, a little milk and s&p (Colcannan)

I like green leafy veg, but I think you do need to steam and steam long enough to get rid of the bitterness.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

i only ever buy petit pois, as garden peas are horrendous :rotfl:
I wonder if i could make a sort of raw minted peas..or maybe i will try them cooked first.

Does the Kale still hurt your teeth if you steam it? I actually have kale once or twice a week in a smoothie as its the only way i can get it down (i dont taste it at all once its blended with the fruit).

I have savoy cabbage sauted with sun dried tomatoes (from a jar), I use the oil to saute them. Also good with some garlic and fresh basil.

Stick at the green veggies and try cooking them in different ways, you may surprise yourself!

I adore sundried tomatoes, so am definitely going to try that! Thanks Camelot :) I have never thought of using the oil from the tomatoes, i normally just throw it away!

I am veggie so have never tried it, but a friend fries cabbage with smoked bacon it is apparently common so will be on the internet.

I steam all veg and hate it boiled, they are not expensive mine is for use on the hob and I paid around £10 so might be something you would want to consider.

I don't like frozen veg apart from peas and sweetcorn, will buy spinach to use in curry if fresh is expensive though

You can steam veggies in a microwave quite simply, or over boiling water with a metal or rattan type steamer basket.

Fresh peas at the height of the season are better than anything else raw, but as the season goes they deteriorate rapidly so you're better with frozen at that point.

Try gently steaming or even saut!ing sprouts (on their own or with a little butter), it's a revelation compared to overboiled wilting nasty things they can be. I won't touch frozen sprouts unless I've frozen them myself.

Most veggies can be eaten raw expecting potatoes and cassava pretty much. Xxx
