    Hi Try harder,

Amazing effort on the savings front! I am blown away by the amount after being MIA for a few months (almost year) myself!

I think finding the balance of saving/mortgage/life is so tricky, so it makes sense that your goals and aims will change and fluctuate!

Glad millionaire's challenge is going well - you were struggling with it before, I think.

I see what you mean about savings from where you normally find them, sorry, daft question!

Well here i am again but sadly worse off than when i was last here ..I have to admit that i do not know where a large part of our savings have gone ..Reading back through my diary i appear to have had £25000 i now have £17500 ..Christmas ,presents and activities came out of this taking a large chunk ,some house costs too including new fascias and guttering on another part of our house ,yet another sofa ,table and chairs ,garden furniture and several big birthdays ,also we are down by around 1500 on our savings due to the drop in the share prices , the rest i have absolutely no idea where it has gone .

I only hope that now i am back to accountability i can get back on course ,the aim is as always to save at least 1000 per month and i now have other goals as we have now decided to do lots more work on our house so another 700 a month is needed for this over the next two years .This is a massive amount and as usual i have absolutely no idea where this money is going to come from but i will have fun as always trying to find it.

Sometimes life just seems to make us haemorraghe money and making ourselves accountable is one hell of a challenge! Good luck, Im certain you'll make the right decisions.

Thank you SJ ..I definitely think that not posting on here regularly is very bad for my savings so will be doing my utmost to check in daily from now on
  • Hi TH. I've been off for a while myself - after moving house I've found it really difficult to get back into the swing of things. I know exactly what you mean about not posting regularly is bad for savings, so I too am going to try and get back on the horse. Good luck for 2019, and please try not to get too disheartened - £17,500 is still a great place to be starting the year from.

Thank you so much for your support ch4rly . By the way ,so pleased to see you back too.

January has passed by in a flash with some good results and some bad ..over the month i have somehow managed to overspend on food and diesel by around three hundred pounds , i have absolutely no idea how this has happened and i am very annoyed with myself but determined to try harder in February .

So i started the year with savings of £17,513.41 and today last day of January i have £18,707.26 so savings for January were £1193.85 which i am very happy with even though it should have been closer to £1500 really but i am trying not to be too cross with myself .I have been really bad at posting and really must try to post at least every couple of days to keep myself motivated
